I feel sorry for you that you feel you have to communicate like that. As I stated I am not a mechanic and I put together a 7min video with a quick overview of what I thought might help someone out. Since you are so knowledgeable about this I think everyone would appreciate you listing out the most important parts. Thanks for your comment.

Aaron – I was about to change the driver side axle on my 2003 a4 … I glad I watched your video. Your idea of not taking any of the suspension off saved me about 2 hours. I changed the passenger side last year and had to tear into the suspension to get it replaced. Thank you for sharing!

In the begining you removed the little hub cap with a key of some sort. My rims have a similar lock. How do you think I could go about attaining one of those keys.

thanks for your help

Aaron Almus says:

hey jatt,

i started with the passenger side and didnt think about trying to just remove axle..i followed the instructions and unbolted the upper control arms so that i could move the arm out of the way. well when i got to the drivers side i decided to see if i could get the axle out without unbolting arms etc and to my happiness i was able to slip it out..barely..but it came out..so i can tell you that at least on one side you do have to do all that extra work..but its better than paying $2k;)
