Thanks a lot for this amazing instructions! Audi and other dealer will only
sell a new fuel pump kit for $1200!!! Nobody gives u the idea how it works.
So this Video and the Part II (installing the pump housing in the tank) are
very invaluable. In my case only the O-Ring of the pickup tube was bad and
the car run out of gas when i used 15 gal. of the 23 gal. gas tank. Again
thanks again to Bob!

yes, the ebay sellers name is “otomotech” located in the UK.

Excellent instructions. When you pries (at 2:00 into video) the housing to
remove, lift the rear of it up about half an inch or so it will help when
rotating it out of the lug. FYI, I found it was the electrical connection
inside the unit that was high resistance, cleaned them up and it worked
fine. So check that before you dismantle all the housings. It can be found
here for UKL96 + UKL22 (apporx $150 + $35 shipping to USA) w o r l d c a r
p a r t s . co .uk ProductID=1242 Real VDO Part.

Hey my man thank you for this video and all the part numbers. Bought the
pump from the UK as well and saved a ton of money doing it myself. My pump
change went off without too much trouble. For all those who are having
trouble getting the whole assembly out of the tank……it needs to be
rotated clockwise mostly while getting it out almost one quarter of a turn
in general. Don’t give up because it will come out albeit with alot
struggling. Good luck to you all and thanks again Execct !!!

Is there a “check-valve” in the fuel pump? I’m loosing system pressure
immediately when car is turned off, but pump does pressurize sytem after a
few seconds when ignition is switched on… makes for delay in starting.

Im having the same problem with my 02 audi a8l 4.2v8 but cant find just the
VDO unit for sale anywhere but the dealer. can you send or post the e bay
seller info??

Bob D says:

There isn’t a check valve in the pump itself. There is further upstream, I
believe the pressure regulator does this. On my old Audi 5000, the fuel
injectors used to leak down and caused the exact same problem. They had to
be re-primed every time after sitting for a while. I’ve not heard that
issue specific to the A8 and fuel injectors though.

hey did your car perform better with the new pump compared to your ladies
car as you mentioned? And which actual connections did you clean up? Were
they visually corroded?
