Really good video. Thanks. It helped me a lot. I couldn’t have done it without this guide.

IMPORTANT NOTE – If you are going to remove the glass and replace the broken guide clip, window needs to be wound down. Take it all the way down then about 10-15mm back up, which allows glass to be removed from guide rails, but leaves enough room to get the guide clips off the cable. Do this before starting removal.

Please help me out!!

Insanely helpful video… Thanks for making.

my problem is about the lock on the door. everything is working well but when i open the door, the car doesnt show on the info screen like he door is open. i checked so there is no button which tells to the car that the door is open. they placed that butting into the door with the lock. how can i fix that ?? please help

pwd3679 says:

The rivets are the crux here. First time I did this I had to reassemble the entire project because I didn’t have the rivets. Also, make sure that the rivet tool is the large kind. The required rivets are big and pretty hard to mount.

pwd3679 says:

Did this today. But due to worn out wires on the originals, I had to replace the guides with new ones.

Michalis Angelides says:

Mate, nice video.
From where i can buy online the track clip for my front door?
Thanks!

向阳 焦 says:

This is a great video! I also have some problem on the audi. One of the window can not be controlled. I want to pull the window up or down. But there is no motor sound and it does not move. After I try several times, it can move a little. Is it the same problem to yours? Or other motor problem?

mlr1844 says:

I got them from an Audi dealer in Cincinnati. Not sure if they ship though. I think your dealer is ripping you off. Might try calling around a few dealers out of town and see what they say.

Eric Pinter says:

can you tell me where you got the part? my allroad uses same part. both guides broken on passenger side. dealer in arkansas said $39/each. i would much rather pay $6! thanks for the great video, btw.

patandanna69 says:

I have a dumb question. So how do I differentiate between the motor and the regulator?

sfinxklo says:

yes, but you have to change the entire rail system, as the wires are connected to it. when he took changed the clips, you just have to drill out the pops holding the railings.

just did it today, easy as long as you have the right parts and tools.

atruezillgitt says:

the window lifting wire for the front door passenger side is broken / cut. would i be able to replace it if i follow these steps ?? Great video by the way.

Nick Volkov says:

Thank you!

Dwayne Henderson says:

I second that on the dealer wanting $70! Definitely a rip off. So I ordered them online as well and did the job in about an hour. Thanks again!

kingkongsdingdong says:

Well done instructional video! Thanks for taking the time.It saved me at least a couple hundred dollars. The funny thing is that you said your Audi dealer charged you six bucks for each plastic piece. My Audi dealer wanted 33 bucks for each plastic piece ($70 for both with tax)! I guess that’s another rip off for living in California. Instead, I went on Ebay and bought them for $7 each + $6 shipping. I recommend marking each elect. connection with a number on masking tape for easier assembly.

SlashersProductions says:

nice guide, bought the clips for 2£ each in the uk but they want 100£ to put the clips in so im gonna attempt to do it myself

Brom Danesteh says:

We have the same year and model car with the exact same problem on both driver and passenger side which would need the new modified clip. If you can make the time to fix our car for 200 dollars on any weekend Please let me know. We live about 20 miles south of Cincinnati. Thanks so much, Shannon

Thank you very much for this video It was a great help when I went to replace the window regulator

FALI80 says:

muy bueno…eres un manitas..saludos

jasesism says:

I had to use a lot of force to get switch panel out. Thanks again for the video it gave me the confidence to strip the door right back.. I wouldn’t have had the confidence otherwise! I think you have saved me approximately £200. Thank you!!!!!

jasesism says:

Thank you for posting the video. I managed to fix the issue for £6 from Audi Aylesbury UK. I would recommend making sure you mark the bolts with a pen as suggested as I forgot to do this and it made reinstall harder. Also make sure you take all trim off carefully as ut is easily torn.

GoldStandaad says:

Thank you.

mlr1844 says:

yep. same procedure. A6 ,front doors.

GoldStandaad says:

Would this procedure work on a ’99 Audi A6 Quattro??

schpongled says:

Great video. My 03 A6 has a rattle coming from the drivers window only when fully up, otherwise it works fine. What could it be? Thanks.

tk19641 says:

This has been great resource, and very helpful! Thank you so much for creating this. I have purchased 2 carrier, prepared tools, and then worked on the door to find out the wire cable was snapped in my case… then I had to purchase regulator assembly, but ultimately now my power window is finaly back! Thank you again.

lasse7654321 says:

Solved my problem! Thanks alot!

adrian5401 says:

Great video, I has a similar problem, the window was struggling to go both down and up, when I stripped the door panels off, it was the steel wire which is used to move the glass up and down, it has some broken strands of wire which were getting stuck in the winding devise. Put in a new set of wire and presto.

FuuLLSpeeD says:

I have a problem with my 2003 Audi A6. My driver window got stuck one day when I let it down, didn’t go up, I have to do it with hands, seems like something, the motor or the crane has something. Nice video, this will save me a lot of money at mechanic.

Christian Salhus says:

Nice how to video 🙂
Have the same problem on my 2004 A6 Allroad, so will check it out today.

TheToyobishi says:

Thanks, now i have an idea how to tint my windows!!!! *GREAT VIDEO*
Wow! is that a challenger next to the Audi A6 ?

Christopher LADD says:

Great video! I am looking to do exactly the same on my 2001 a6 2.7t. Great to know that it is meerly the plastic guide clips and that they only cost less than 10 $! Thanks!

andyase1 says:

Good video. I have a 2004 A6 and need to replace the chrome window trims on the doors. When the window and frame is removed are the trims easy to replace, I know you did not do this but did you notice ? I think you have to drill the rivets out? Thanks
Andy

johnnyckrock says:

Great video, thank! The part number for anyone who wants to order it, is #4B0837463B. On my car it was the driver’s side. Couple of points…I couldn’t disconnect all the wiring – some of it was hard wired, so you may have to do this job with the regulator still somewhat attached to the door. Also, the blue V shaped holders for the window did not fit the replacement clips as well as they fitted the original green ones. I went ahead and bolted the window on anyway…seems fine. Thanks !

LaDonnaization says:

My question is can you just buy the clips?

MrJKLLOL says:

How do i check if the motor is weak or shot??

mlr1844 says:

That would be a classic symptom. its easy enough to take the door panel off and make sure. only other thing would be the motor. window goes down easy because of gravity. wont go up if motor is weak/shot or the clip described in the video is bad. anything else would be rare…presuming you are talking about front windows on an A6

MrJKLLOL says:

my windows go down perfectly fine, but when it goes up, it kind of stalls, so I have to pull it up with my hand. However, it does go up fine some times. This is a problem for both of the driver and passenger windows. How likely is it that this is a motor problem?
