Carlton Connell says:

Hello, I am trying to figure out exactly where bank 2 sensor 2 oxygen
sensor is located

Anthony Hansen says:

1999 Audi A6 with 2.8L V6 – My engine temperature gauge was working
intermittently, now not at all. It is always reading cold. Now the engine
is VERY hard to start if warmed up at all. When the gauge was working
intermittently, the engine would start easily; warm, hot or cold; as long
as the gauge moved off cold. My guess is the ECT sending unit is bad, and
the warm engine is getting too much fuel at start. Sound feasible?

Alexander Forsgren says:

Hello, i have a 2002 A4 3.0 and it runs like shit right now.
The temp gauge only works sometimes, it goes to 90c then goes down again to
50c or sometimes it can stay on 70c for a while, but 90% of the time it’s
at 50.
The car also smokes alot(white/grey) and use alot of fuel.

Is it the sensor or the thermostat?

Sorry if something like this is already answered in the comments.

audi 2004 a4 1.8 l, same problem with temp reading , showing 0. i can see
sensor at the front off engine, driver side on the button, attached to
coolant hose, looks exactly same as coolant temp sensor. plug inside have 2
pins – 2 wire. what kind off sensor it is? witch one i need to change to
dash temp starts working?
thank in advance for help.

I have an 2002 Audi A6 turbo quattro. Recently my car wont turn over it
cranks and cranks but wont turn over. I feel like mechanics are taking
advantage of my desperate need. I’ve replaced the alternator, battery, and
fuel pump with no luck. It happens after I drive for a little bit after
that it wont start. Im so frustrated with this problem. What could it be?

Andreas Mecca says:

i have an audi a4 2005, my gauge is at max even when i disconnect the
battery terminals. Felt some jerky moves when driving…Is this ECT the
culprit?

David Engle says:

I have a audi a4 Quattro 1.8l is the same location for the sensor?

Hecklrkosh says:

Its hard to see what you’re doing. I pulled the Coolant switch instead of
the sensor.

MT09ider says:

Thanks for the reply. Does that sensor effect the choke on start up, as in
my sensor thinks its warmer than what it is, therefore not applying choke
on start up. Thanks again.

MT09ider says:

You described exactly how my car is atm. I would i could pay you for your
advice or send some beer. Cheers mate. Maybe you should start a online
mechanic Store haha and get paid for your advise cheers

mike James says:

is this the temperature sensor that can effect starting?

Javan Javadov says:

good job man

MT09ider says:

Hi there, Ive got a 2002 Audi A4 and the car takes a couple of goes to
start cold. Scanned the computer and came up with Error 16501- Engine
Coolant temp sensor curcuit fail. Im wondering if there is more than 1
sensor to be change? and if you have any tips on part number or how to do
that would be great. thanks

Thomas EXOVCDS says:

Yes, that would be the one.

d3v3ouzm1ndz says:

this dude is amazing YouTube you need to take care of this guy… good
people never get the recognition needed

Thomas EXOVCDS says:

I’m already trying / doing that.

Mickey Boy says:

looks like a job for the audi shop my gauge comes up to 90 then
intermitently falls away to nothing does the sensor seem like the problem

Thomas EXOVCDS says:

Thanks… the camera work wasn’t that great since it was a tight space to
get at and the camera doesn’t always look where the eyes are looking.
Thanks for watching & taking the time to comment!

Thomas EXOVCDS says:

Yes, but choke is an “old school” term… the ECM richens the fuel mixture
by keeping the injectors open longer when the coolant temperature sensor is
cold (showing high resistance). Choking refers to a plate that obstructs
air flow on a carbureted engine, which then causes more fuel to be drawn
in. So yes, if the ECM thinks the engine is warm, less fuel is injected and
the engine does not run well (or stalls) during the first few minutes. No
starting / running issues once the engine is warm.

Thomas EXOVCDS says:

On the 1.8T the sensor is in a similar location as the V6 in this video. I
have a video on my channel that shows sensor replacement on a 1.8T Jetta…
it’s in the same location as your Audi, just that the engine sits sideways.
Watch that video and then find the sensor in your engine bay at the back by
the firewall (ahead of the battery).. can be a bit of a tight space to get
at if you have Secondary Air Injection.

Thomas EXOVCDS says:

Thanks for the kind words! If you ever need some info, let me know and I’ll
see what I can find for you.
