It goes like 250-300k kms, with the original oil change intervals, if you change it like every 10k kms intead of the original 25-30k, it can go up to 400-500k kms. Also depends on the way you use it. When it comes to replace the timing chain kit, it takes about 2 work days, if you remove the engine, like the manufacturer recommends. But its possible to do it with only removing the transmission, so you can do it faster, but in a tighter space.
256 cubic inches, 310hp, 302 torque. cam chains on left front and right rear of engine. and a belt drive to drive cams and water pump at the front. 2006 Touareg. 5300 lbs.
These engines are bulletproof and timing chains last very long. They are complicated sure, but they are very effiecient and make alot of reliable power. I changed these many times and i like it. Working on a amazing engine is always fun. This v8 was making loads of power whilst revving to 8500 rpm smoking all the americans and still being reliable. In europe theres loads of these audis with half a million kilometres. I had a a6 v6 supercharged with almost 400k km running 500hp for over 150k km
Im looking at audis from 2009 -2014ish found a 2009 70k 1 owner no accident for 10k and a 2014 3.0 supercharger with 88k 12k . Any advice on audis from 09 to 16 ( what to look or look out for/advice , info would be so helpful guys. Im 55 and this will be my 1st car payment putting 4k down. Should i steer clear of audi in general,,zero exp. Lol.. any help appreciated
Thats why the previous generation of the 4.2 5v was best, it has a timing belt in the front of the motor

Is there a reason why they placed the timing-chains in the rear?!

The previous Gen is a peach to work on, it has a belt, no chain.
This is an Audi q7?
That's why many people are LS swap VW and Audi, BMW.
Looks pretty simple since I’ve done it lol
It is needlessly complicated to tickle someone's ego.
