very nice video… mine was stuck both ways and the belt was slapping so i
changed the clutch pulley…
but the noise is still there and the engine dies every now and then when
idle 🙁 any other ideas ? was thinking the tensioner may have gone bad cuz
of the pulley being stuck?

emmigrate says:

hello, My car (visteon alternator) makes a whistling noise that gets higher
pitch when accelerating, and gets much louder if I increase the power
consumption (defrosting, high beam, etc). Do you thing it is the pulley or
the bearings?

Fantastic video! Thanks!

Best video for diagnose and replacing clutch pulley of AudiSkoda

Twangbot says:

Just re-watched, looks like the shaft has melted! New alternator and be
thankful it didn’t do more damage than it did I think.

Hello mate, I’ve seen some people selling them in usa, quite cheap. You can
see them on Ebay. But i cant see anyone selling them in UK,i ame going to
have them for sale shortly myself. What phrases are you using while looking
for them?

Hey you polish Irish ?

Garth Philpot says:

Hi there, i have a 1.9tdi Jetta that is making a slight sqeak when turning
over the engine for the first two or three turns. It sounds very much like
a belt, but has just come back from a 800 euro service and is still doing
the same thing. they did a new cambelt at this service along with a major
service. will this clutch pulley be on the diesel, and does it make a
squeak like a belt when worn ?

WestronicsIrl says:

Hello mate, If you want to do it on the car you need a side-air torque
wrench, otherwise its not really do-able. Unless you will take the
alternator out.

Cheers for this bro!

WestronicsIrl says:

Great, Im verry happy that i could help :D.

Radders123 says:

I have a VW golf GTI DSG – on braking or taking foot off accelerator there
is a increasing amount of vibration. This is audible and you can feel it.
Might this be an alternator issue?

jazzyman99 says:

It was the pulley. When I changed the pulley you could feel that the clutch
was working ok by spinning the pulley sharply with your hand and then
stopping dead, there was a slight give i.e not stopping dead like a locked
pulley.

Twangbot says:

Great video. I didn’t replace my alternator pulley in time. It fell off and
now looks just like the one in your video at 1:50. do I need to buy a new
alternator or is there a way to replace the pulley now?

WestronicsIrl says:

Hello there, If you have a Valeo alternator it could be it,windings in the
rotor use to go in them and that will cause the engine to shake badly. But
there is a plethora of different things that can also cause it,worn engine
mounts,worn crankshaft rubber pulley etc.

Really Helpful for self diagonse

WestronicsIrl says:

Hello mate, If you took the belt off,and all 2 bolts out of it it should
come out. If it doesn’t just use a large screw driver as a leaver and
leaver it up from the side. Just make sure you are not supporting the screw
driver on anything plastic. It should come up easily then, there is always
bit of a force required with those ones :D.

Hi. Got a Seat Ibiza FR 2010 diesel. Past week it start shooting down the
power of the AC. Saturday when i was filling up it just not start again. I
turn the key and it does not start. Took the car to the garage and they
told me today that it was the alternator that is not charging. Charge only
12,99. Can you confirm it’s possible?

WestronicsIrl says:

And if your clutch pulley siezes solid, the automatic tensioner jumps like
mad, because it starts douing what clutch pulley should do,which is Taking
the kinetic force of the “strech-destrech motion” away. Question 2) -Most
cars manufactured after year 2000 have a clutch pulleys on them, mostly
they are diesel engines that the clutch pulley is used (not sure why but i
think its due to the fact that diesel engines have more torque than
petrol,so there is more forces working on the fan belt.

WestronicsIrl says:

Question 3)- Are rebuild alternators come with a clutch pulley: Well some
do some dont, price of a clutch pulley is quite high (due to its complex
design), so some rebuilders dont provide clutch pulleys to keep the costs
to minimum. This is some wall of text :D,thanks for asking. I hope this
answers all your questions.
