Why I Love My Acura Vigor -ETCG1

There have been some questions about why I’ve chosen this beat up old Acura Vigor as a project car. It’s obviously in rough shape, at least on the outside. S…

i owned 5 different hondas from the 90s. best cars ever. now they are junk
just like ford. had a 2008, shittiest honda ever

William Todd says:

Why does Eric like his Acura Vigor? Its paid for, no car payment to deal
with LOL. Who cares what the car looks like as long as it gets you from
point A to point B. Generally the nicer the car you have the more people
in parking lots tend to think its funny to slam their doors into your new
car. I drive junk vehicles, if someone hits me, I’ll probably never notice
given I don’t drive vehicles in pristine condition my vehicles are already
dented, and scratched which makes the parking at stores less stressful, no
worries about someone slamming their car doors into my vehicle, I just look
at them and laugh. My POS daily driver Bronco 2, has absolutely nothing of
value, actually the tires are worth more than the whole vehicle, the wheels
don’t even match. Doesn’t have a radio in it at all, no air conditioning
either. Its stripped down to the point where there isn’t any carpet in it
either, which I think the previous owner had this thing drowned in a lake
or something considering the amount of rust I’ve found, not just body rust,
but rust inside the dash as well.

So, the Acura is actually a Honda? More along the lines of a higher end or
luxury model of a Honda?

ChronicConnoisseur says:

hey eric, what did you have for breakfeast this morning? lol also i stepped
up from a d16y8 to a built b18c1 with 200hp+ (ITR internals and
aftermarket), high ends fun and all but i love goin up hills in 5th gear
like its nothin, y8 would struggle so hard up a good incline

FrankTheCat says:

Your experience with your Vigor is a lot like my experience with my 1997
SAAB 900s. I bought it for basically $500 in horrible shape, and I’ve spent
a lot more than that over the past year bringing it back to
not-scary-to-drive shape. It’s never left me stranded though, and I
absolutely love driving it.

Mr Ol Skül says:

I’ve always been a car enthusiast, but I’m surprised to hear you love any
car. This from the person who recently said they were just cars (or
something along those lines).

Wildman113 says:

If you think a 5 cylinder Honda has good torque, you should try driving
something with a real engine and real torque, like a V8. I can’t imagine
what you’d think of a Ford 6.7 Diesel with 860 lb-ft at 1600RPM.

stixxs says:

Quicker than a Ford. How ’bout my Cobra?

3Dtimespace says:

Erica, how bout putting in a manual gearbox in this awsome POS? Would make
it even yet more fun and reliable. Would probably generate a lot of
views/interest too

MrMassey says:

You need a vtec project

Kristopher Brock says:

Why i loved my 96 Subaru Legacy Wagon, it was beat to heat but it was my
DD POS. It would take a beating and noone would get near it..

mylifeisJDM says:

Been looking for something bigger than my 99 Civic Sedan and this
definitely piques my interest.

Max Payne says:

Who’s holding the camera? O_o’?

bg147 says:

I think what people don’t get is… please don’t take offense, but my guess
is you are thrifty and you probably don’t care what people think about the
age or lack of cachet of your vehicle. I am the same way. There is
something to be said for driving in a car that many people may have traded
in but we keep it running and reliable. Instead of having the newest or
greatest thing, we have the satisfaction of giving something a second life.
Ok.. that is pretty much what you are saying as I listen to the video.

jamie MacKenzie says:

my dad had a Honda Concerto here in the UK it was a joint venture with
Rover, basically Rover made the body and Honda powered the beast! yes i
said beast it was a 1.6 DOCH with 5 speed tranny, and only 1,200kg! i plan
on buying one when i pass my test to convert it to rwd cause it was as fwd

Iam D says:

Thanks I know what my next POS is going to be. :)

toy96 says:

The car is highly sought after on west coast or any acura enthusiast ,
primarily manual transmission same with 6 spd legends. I’m sure it will
last million miles for you! Best thing with old car, folks with new car
will be afraid of you!

Cobalt512 says:

Same story with my saturn l series. love that thing, but it’s no head
turner. Once I free up the intake and exhaust with some manifolds off the
cobalt ss, that’s the only time it’ll be turning heads, if that. love it as
a DD though

DE Nichols says:

A few Vigor’s rolled through my job at a used car lot 13 years ago. I’ve
never been able to get them out of my head. I liked a lot of cars, but I
was afraid to buy as I had 3 already, lol. That said, this is one of the
few that stuck with me. And those Vigor’s didn’t stick in the lot. Why? The
test drive.

I laughed when he said the Vigor was replaced by the TL. I didn’t know
that. A few years after I had an exciting dream where I drove all night,
flying through the streets in a TL. I’ve never been in one, but if they
have anything that the Vigor had, it’d explain the dream. (lots of fast
driving!)

spelunkerd says:

I had a little 76 honda civic that had a lot of zip, it was a shame to see
it go.

Bruno G. Mezadri says:

Very nice! We had some five cilinders cars for sale some years ago here in
Brazil (by fiat)… It sounds and feels a lot better than four cilinders
engines.

GOLD SUGGESTION: all ETG1 channel’s videos during a ride in one of your
cars. =)

Zomgdevil says:

I’ve always wanted a reliable pos that I don’t care about much and can push
carts in lots and stuff but I always feel like eventually I’ll start
feeling bad and end up caring about it lol..

Ruben theIowan says:

Loved this video, basically how I feel about my car. Well done!!

Skitter302 says:

6:45 hahah. Quotes for life!

DALE97DSM says:

The bottomend torque was that the V-tec kicking in.
Looks like an Integra which is a step up ones most people go for due to the
engine.

Me, I prefer the 1994 Mitsu mirage which is low buck sleeper stock wise
33-40 mpg way more than the Vigor 26mpg. if someone with the extra money
could 4g63 swap and possibly an awd swap make the 94-95 mirage into a two
door evo2-3 replica.

robbcrx says:

The rubber muffler hangar broke on my 1990 CRX Si today. Luckily I was
blocks away from my mechanic !

AnotherSiGuy says:

Gotta love that 5 cylinder sound, I want one now.

Dillon1791 says:

Hell yeah Vigor!!! Now do the 5 speed swap and change that attitude (Not
caring about little damages).
