I have 208K miles on my ’98 Honda Accord. My right front bearing is
starting to scream a bit. They have never been replaced. Although you
tempted me to want to do this myself Eric, I’m worried about pressing the
bearing in/out and removing the old race (I don’t have special tool
XD45….). Perhaps I’m just lazy? Anyhow thanks for the fine Vid!!

QUESTION! 7:20 you show the new bearing already pressed into the 4-bolt
mounting section. I look on Amazon and only see the bearing (w/out 4-bolt
mount). I presume I would have to PRESS this into the old 4-bolt mount?
This is where I get nervous…Can I purchase that whole piece (bearing +
4-bolt mount) rather than pressing into old 4-bolt mount?

My local Honda-guy wants $366 (out the door) for BOTH front bearings. I
think this is a good value.

Dealership wants $950 + $100 mandatory allignment <-----Pfffffffft !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mrsemifixit says:

I had a front bearing replaced on my 98 civic about 6 months ago and it’s
gone bad again. Anyway of knowing if it was an installation error or just
defective part?

SeverdSeouL says:

What a stupid design! What the hell was Honda thinking! And they only did
this to the 90’s Accords, not the Civics..Why? Why not just keep the
standard rotor-over-hub design?

Anthony Starfield says:

Thank you Eric!

Your videos have all the practical details that the manuals never mention.
Plus you have personality! The manuals are as dry as dust and they never
say – This one bolt is really tough to reach unless you are at least 6 feet
tall.

Adam Dezso says:

Hey eric another great video from you. I have learned a lot through your
channel thanks. I have a question. I have a bent hub on my honda fit. So
naturally I Ave to change the hub and bearing. The question being is ok if
I just replace the entire steering knuckle with the hub and bearing already
installed (from a junkyard). Ny thought being this would be easier
considering I do not have the tools to r & r the hub and bearing. Thanks in
advance. Oh and should I grease the the outboard splines on the drive
shaft?

Felipe Carmona says:

Hey I just got mine replaced and they charged me 150 each is that normal?
