soccertricks2013 says:

I DONT GET IT 🙁 I REALLY WANT TO KNOW HOW TO DO THIS…MORE VIDEOS OR
EXPLANATION PLEASE!!!

Steve Saephanh says:

what happens if you don’t set timing after replacing distributor?

changievangie says:

You miss one step. After your done tighten your distributor, recheck your
timing to make sure it didn’t move because the distributor tends to move
when tighten it.

PFCKruger says:

That´s such a nice engine :)

BN20O9 says:

CMOS cameras and strobes don’t mix due to rolling shutter go old skool ccd!

VIKTOR ROTKIV says:

my 95 civic failed smog, I had change spark plugs, spark plug wires, rotor,
rotor cap, air filer, and still faied.it fail HC, it has 97 (MEAS) @ 15mph
. I cleaned the intake throttle and poured some valve cleaner on the gas
tank, do you think i should check the timing too?

Matthew Pippin says:

Eric, I set the ignition timing as instructed. However, I have rotated the
distributor as far as it will go but it isn’t quite far enough to line up
the timing marks. Thoughts?

EricTheCarGuy says:

@MonkeyTyme808 Same place as this one.

cruz4me says:

HELLO ALL I HAVE A LIL PROB MY BUDDY HAS A 94 INTEGRA WHILE HE WAS DRIVIING
THE DISTRUBITOR FELL OFF THE CAR WONT START UNLESS I MOVE THE DIST OFF THE
BOLT HOLES THEN IT WILL START HOW DO I TIME IT RIGHT OR WHAT DO I DO THANKS
AND BE SAFE

rockyjr82 says:

@EricTheCarGuy Alright I will check for some other problems that may cause
it to miss. Thanks for for answering its kinda impressive you got the time
haha.

fightingfalconfan says:

Because he replaced his distributor. As a result, his timing had to be
re-done because the master cylinder was off. Any time you mess with part of
the ignition like distributor or timing belt, always re-do your timing. It
might be off by a hair but that could seriously hinder your engine’s
performance. Hope this helps!

Devin Sayles says:

hey eric i have a 1990 integra ls b18a1 (completely stock).. and i have
spark fuel and ofcoarse air… my car will crank just fine but will not
start ive replaced the main relay and swapped ecu’s and neither worked..
ive even tried pull starting the car and it wouldnt even act like it wanted
to run any help would be nice, thank you

fightingfalconfan says:

Your welcome!

Geran Simpson says:

My timing is 5 degrees too advanced, but I can’t rotate the distributor any
further on my 1989 honda accord, what do I have to do to get it set to the
right timing?

Nick B says:

I have misfire problem on a 96 integra that I’m having a hard time putting
my finger on. It’s only at idle. Is it possible that i need to adjust the
distributor? I’ve done a tune up, compression is fine, mechanical timing is
good and it’s getting fuel. The distributor was not removed as far as I
know but the misfire is really stumping me. Am I headed in the wrong
direction or is this a possibility? And why is there an adjustment if the
computer can do it?

Curtis Brooker says:

If the car just kept cranking and wouldn’t start, you probably moved your
distributor rotor unintentionally when replacing the o-ring, and it is now
180 out. I also ran into this problem the very first time I replaced a
distributor. Rotate the rotor 180 once again, and replace the distributor
onto the head. Then use a timing light to adjust your timing. Move
distributor towards the firewall to advance the timing, or towards to
radiator to retard it. Pretty simple once you get the hang of it.

fightingfalconfan says:

the ecu just sense’s the position of the piston in order to fire the fuel
into the cylinder. the distributor fires the spark plug to ignight the
fuel/air. its not smart enough to do the spark by its self. newer cars like
from 09 dont have the distributor since they have a coil pack on each spark
plug and those ecu’s are smart enough to know when to fire the plug.

EricTheCarGuy says:

@quebecsupervirus I’m happy to help, thanks for the comment.

hondannyboy says:

I cannot thank you enough for this video and this awesome explanation. A
technician came to my home and adjusted my mom’s civic timing with a
non-adjustable timing light a few weeks ago. I don’t think he did the right
thing. I’m going to check this as soon as I can. Thanks Eric for all the
help you bring to us.

james riley says:

I have just now realized that after 2 Honda accords that every time I set
my timing that I have used the single mark instead of the 3 marks. The
thing is my car ran but I did get a slight misfire and that issue left me
stumped. The moral of my story READ and understand the information. Eric
I’m trying to set my timing in the accord 4cyl. but I have turned my dist.
all the way to advance and I still can’t reach the 3 marks. I’m think my
mechanical timing could be off, what do you suggest.

Mikee D says:

ERic I wish you live near me…You will be my trusthy mechanic..I have an
ignition problem and i believe its the distributor. I doubt is the fuel
pump cuz i can smell gas. I have a 97 ford probe Gt

Abraham Perez says:

Sick thank alot

alcor4ever says:

Hi Eric, if I take my distributor off and put it back on supposedly where
it was, do I need to check the timing? Many thanks!

Jigger Aguilar says:

Hey Eric, nice video! I have a 1998 nissan frontier 4 cyl, I pulled out the
oil pump and the distributor after I put it back together and test drive
the truck and it feels the rpm are too high! Do I need to adjust the
distributor co’z I dont have the timing light?

cabix81 says:

Do u know where the timming mark on a 99 civic B16a2?

mdnetworks177 says:

Good stuff man. Thanks for taking the time to make these video’s. Your
awesome.

xIVANDOOMx says:

Hey eric can you make a video for a installing a short shifter for a dc2?

EricTheCarGuy says:

@hgortermarof How do you plan to transfer that mark to the new distributor?
If you were using the same distributor you could do that but if you are
replacing it it’s not possible and just easier to time the engine after you
have installed the new distributor.

EricTheCarGuy says:

@gefallt I try not to take myself too seriously. Thanks for the comment.

nico27004 says:

@EricTheCarGuy how would you know if you dont need to time a car? would i
look under the hood for the sticker? and if it didnt say anything about the
timing then you dont have to set it to tdc?

htowngoonies says:

lol if its not timed right ur engine gunna b running like shit

CJinRealLife says:

If I don’t have the timing gun in the mean time can I set my dizzy turned
forward as far as you did to get the timing near right? I have the same
