Ken Alegre says:

Thank you for the video. I now know how to reset the oil life indicator.

Steve Cobratei says:

The ONLY reason it says to use that light an oil is that is how the
Manufacturer gets the fleet to pass EPA and gas mileage standards for that
year vehicle

thanks very good

Steve Cobratei says:

With the use of TRUE full synthetic engine lubricant (Castol Syntec is NOT
a full synthetic, they won a court case to say it’s, It comes out of the
ground). Mobil 1 is the easiest the find and the cheapest of the true full
synthetic engine lubes. I have used it in all 12 vehicles I have owned over
the past 20 years and my current cars have 145,000 – 2002 Chevy Monte Carlo
SS, 138,000- ’02 Elantra, 92,000 – ’04 Acura MDX and all get better than
epa rated mph plus run like new. Synthetic’s PERIOD

Oh, by the way, I’m not talking out my as. I am a Master Automotive tech
with over 40 years of experience and I tell my customers the same thing.
The 3000 mile oil change was started in the 1970’s by the oil companies to
sell more oil. The specs of today’s motor oils allow you to change oil at
7500 miles(LOOK AT YOU OWNER MANUAL) It’s been this way for over 25 years
now.

netman88 says:

@T1MCPT Thanks for sharing the info also. Helps others.

Thank you. That was driving me crazy

Steve Cobratei says:

Figure it out, the cost of oil and a filter is about $25. With a synthetic
engine lubricant and filter it’s $35 to $45, depending on which one you
buy. You will have LESS wear, lower temp(due to lower friction) and most
important BETTER gas mileage. You can use 10w-30 or 10w-40 in any engine
even if the oil cap says 0w-20, 5w-30 or any other for car 2000 to 2012.

Steve Cobratei says:

‘If you use a full synthetic lubricant(not oil) like Mobil 1 or Royal
Purple you reset oil when you change and again when it turns on again. The
next time the oil light comes on change the engine lubricant, (That would
be a 15,000 mile interval) which is just about right for a quality engine
lubricant.

Thanks this help

T1MCPT says:

Just so people know, this procedure is almost identical for a 2006 TSX. The
only difference is, at least my TSX, doesn’t have tire pressure, but use
info to scroll to maintenance (past)due display, hold sel/reset for about
10 seconds, then near the bottom of the center display “cancel” pops up,
hit info once to scroll to “reset”, then press sel/reset button once and
your done. I’ll make a video in 5000 miles.
