My 2009 Acura MDX lower alternator mounting front point above the AC compressor broke off. What is that part call and can that part be replaced?

@chasewahl6683 says:

I just replaced my alternator today for the first time in my 08 MDX. I paused and played it over and over. It took me 5hrs. But it got done perfectly. Thank you very much for your help!

Fantastic video.

Gotta tell you how much I appreciate your videos. Very well done and very good on exact details. Thank you!

I have been a video producer for Fortune 500 companies for over 35 years. And I must say this is probably the best how-to video I have ever scene. And I've used YouTube a lot over the years to work on many of my vehicles. Lighting, camera placement, editing, voice-over, all exceptional. You will make this DYI project a breeze. Thanks for the excellent production.

As a veteran it is great to see videos like this that help Americans do a correct repair of their automobile. Moreover, excellent presentation. We just used the video to replace the alternator in my son Acura.

Thank you for the video. There were some things where I deviated from the video because things seemed a little more cramped on my daughter's 2008.

– I did not disconnect the lowest wire that goes down to the AC compressor.
– I did not have to mess with the wiring harness where it goes above the rocker cover.
– I did have to remove the #1 ignition coil (assuming that first one up front is #1) just to have enough clearance to get my fat hand down there to disconnect the wires from the alternator.
– I did remove the power steering reservoir completely so I had more room to work with.
– I had to remove the plastic garnish that sits above the radiator because it cut off some room for me to work.
– getting the alternator out was, well, interesting. I managed it, but it was not pleasant. I think the factory method must say to remove the radiator fan assembly, which looks pretty involved.

I've done worse, but the video made it look like it would be almost as easy as my old 78 Chevy truck, which it, of course, was not.

Great video, thank you.

Bought the alternator from you guys and thought the video seemed easy enough but I cannot for the life of me get the alternator out. Any extra tips or tricks? It seems like there’s no room at all.

@andrewpeake1717 says:

Thank you for the step by step video. I was able to follow and successfully replace alternator. As a below average diy mechanic, I am super thankful for this easy to follow video! Camera angles on your video made it really easy to follow!

@MarkLawsonCanada says:

Great video, but you do NOT need to decouple that bottom wire. Leave it with the wiring harness and sneak the alternator out! Very difficult to get it apart and get it together again.

@speidy47d says:

Very methodical video. The step by step process was right on!

@rongeur2008 says:

Thank you! Very detailed video from step one to end. I had to put the belt first before putting back the water and power steering reservoir.

@HENRIIIIII says:

I broke the bottom bolt, any advice on removing the alternator

@oliverdatus565 says:

Maaaann!!!! The first time i took my alternator off my MDX, i had the wheel off and did not loosen the ac line. I took the VQ approach.

@mr.jsloverst.8188 says:

Very clear explanation, thank you.

@ivanvega2821 says:

Is this the same for a 2017 MDX? Great video!!!!

@chrispham1113 says:

A lot of work! I love the video because it is very detail in every step.

@bobppp1405 says:

Awesome tutorial! I bought the required tools and followed the steps. Everything went very smoothly. I DIY a small bushing puller to adjust the space for mounting. Thanks again for such a detailed and well-filmed video.
