to whom it may concern..I did a very similar job on a KIA sportage..all went well except….on the top of the upper timing belt cover 7:28 there is a little plastic seal ..make DAMM sure this thing is tucked in because mine apparently got caught up between the cam sprocket and the belt and jumped the time about 60 degrees while I was tooling down the highway celebrating my successful timing belt/water pump job. Luckily, it didnt junk the engine..but it did wreck my trip to the botanical garden and forced me to redo the job. Just a heads up!!

Did my 94 ford probe gt a couple years ago. This brought back some memories. Everything worked out but it easily took me 8 hours not having done the TB, water pump, and pulleys before. Learned A LOT about that engine though. Well worth the time.

I have to say that now I've seen this and how much work is involved, I'm surprised on the price my sister got from a Honda dealership for a 05 Honda with a v-6! I think 627 dollars is not all that bad, what do you think? Oh, and that's parts included!

And if the power steering makes noise right after the timing belt change you have to replace the O-Ring on the P/S pump inlet.

There is also no need to replace the screw type tensioner. As long as you have a bracket all you have to do is take the 8mm off of the bottom and use a #1 flat head screwdriver to bring it back in. As long as the seal is good it won't ever go bad. I've never seen one fail.
