Im not mechanically inclined so let me ask. I just purchased a 2017 Accord Touring. Is that engine the J series you mentioned? If so, typically speaking, how soon should I start looking for this leak?

I’ll typically try and sell the front valve cover gasket as well because the majority of these I see will be leaking as well. No big deal, I’ll just charge an additional hour for labor and the customer usually agrees. Peace of mind and all.

Thanks, great content, really appreciate your effort with these videos (I don't skip ads to help support your channel.) I may never need that done (hopefully the SVCM helps with that too) but regardless, I appreciate learning more about the Pilot and it's issues long-term. I'm still on the fence on whether to return on lease end in 34 months and get the Lexus GX 460 if still available in 2.9 years with the V8 (yes, counting the months…lol,) I tried carvana/carmax, too much of a loss selling it now since I got it new, depreciation is a killer when new. I'm going to give it everything I can to maintain it as best as possible in case if I keep it, but even with all the best you do, if there's a major defect that shows up at x amount of miles after the power train/honda care warranty expires, esp. with the ZF9 transmission, it sucks, but then again it could happen to any vehicle if you keep it long enough regardless of how well you maintain it. Wish they put in a AISIN transmission instead of the ZF9 🙂

Cool tutorial, my brother’s 2011 Honda Accord V6 has this VCM solenoid leaking. He tried everything but it’s still leaking like crazy.

The last 2 that I replaced were done with the entire assembly, which, like you stated, does take longer.

As a fellow honda tech I cannot describe how many times V6 vehicles get towed in from this issue. It's always "cs vehicle died while driving, would not restart. Battery light is on, check and report"
