This was fun. Don’t worry about the color match, the entire car needs
paint. Easy Rust Repair the ‘Hack’ Way -EricTheCarGuy
Still too much work. I’d just cover it over with duct tape to keep water
out.
are the wheels clogged with dirt, or are they just really worn out. ? i
take it you live up north, with 2 sets instead of all season
For a “hack job,” that turned out quite well, in my opinion. Had you gotten
paint that perfectly matched the color, I dare say that that repair
would’ve looked *very* good. Not professional-quality, to be sure, but
still would’ve looked very, very good. Would’ve turned that $500 car into a
$2,000 car, easy.
Thanks for the mention! I’ve had a lot of subs today. It was a quick fix
and stopped the water…goal accomplished! I agree, I’d rather look at a
mismatch than a rust bubble and keep the stuff in the trunk dry. I’ll post
this on my site.
You have a camera person now! way cool.
shame it didnt match a little better.. but thats the rattle can lifestyle
You got lazy with the colour match oops color match.
So…When can i drop mine off so you can repair mine?
BTW Props for not giving a toss so much, it’s an old motor with crap
paintwork that doesn’t leak anymore. A lot of people are going to faint
though, ahh well, sensitive souls ;P
no semi matched color cans of paint?
12:40 Best piece of advise on this video…”Don’t block off your screw
hole.”
Hey this actually looks more rigid then the quick jobs on the vids on the
tube so far.
You could get a can of the real color touch up paint or at least close er
That’ll do pig, that’ll do.
Should have gotten some 22gauge steel and tap screwed it in then
fiberglass.. Next year that whole chunk will come off and have a bigger
issue
Eric, you made a nice video on the welding equipment. Why do you use the
filler insteat the proper metal welded in? Do your welding skills need
practice? Practice it on the car, it is 500$ one…
would love that car >.> it looks really nice for 500$
Excellent video!!!, how to do it yourself.
Thanks a lot.
Would have been nice to see you TIG weld this car. Though the results are
the same, welding would have lasted longer. I guess Accra’s are one of
those cars that will never reach classic car status. Your Fairmount would
be worth welding. I restore classic cars. Perhaps you could do a video on
welding at a later date?
Wow, this is the one job I’m looking for. I need to fix my rusty old car.
Thanks Eric for sharing.
Btw nice tripod lol :)
that turned out really bad what u should have done is get a piece of wax
paper cut to the size of the hole lay the bondo fully on the wax paper and
then place it over the hole let it dry then peel the wax paper off of the
bondo then it leaves no paper mess.
I’ll take that hack job any day! Awesome work man.
Something I discovered about wet sanding is Mr. Clean Magic erasers. With
some water those things can remove orange peel and make even a crappy paint
job look better.
It’s some where between wet sanding and polishing and takes literally no
time. I repainted the fuel door on my Jeep and it had horrible orange
peel. 10 minutes with the hose and a magic eraser and it looked great.
Nice camera work Brian!
wax paper would work better.
I’m surprised you didn’t use a honda oem antenna.
Over spray on your windows much?
