Acura RL Center Console Upholstery Repair (Arm Rest) & How to Remove

In this video I replace the center console upholstery in my Acura RL. After calling around I found out this would cost me between $100 and $175 dollars. For 40 dollars you can do this quick repair with professional results.

Excellent video explaining how to repair the center console leather. Acura should have used Better leather on both the door armrests and center console. This video will save you several hundred dollars. Thanks much.

Hi Jon. Another question, please. The cover on my RL'S front seat cup holders no longer stays closed. Turns out to be a very costly repair if not done myself. Do you have any ideas on how to fix this? If not, a good way to just to manually prop it closed at times? I know it's off topic, but I thought it was worth asking. Thanks so much.

Thank you very much for taking the time to make and post this video. The armrests look great! I was wondering how much of a difference you notice when leaning on the armrests now that you removed the original foam? Still comfortable or do you wish you placed some sort of substitute foam there during reupholstering?

Kathleen Cahill says:

Jon, thanks so much for this instructional video. I am a 63 year old woman, and I was able to replace my center console cover with a new leather one in no time flat, thanks to these easy instructions. (I must admit that I was at first stumped by the fact that there were no visible screws in the first plate!!) Thanks for taking the time to demonstrate this!

Henry Keys, Jr. says:

how do you trim the corners? They're bulging out.

Ben Nguyen says:

is the adhesive on the armrest side where the foam is not needed? I didn't see you spray the adhesive. thanks.

Looks great. can you believe that acura used cheap vinyl on their top of the line car?
what kind of foam would you recommend if I were to replace the original foam? it's kind of flat. I looking for a foam that will withstand daily use.
