Acura MDX Front Brake Pads & Rotors Replacement

Acura MDX Front Brake Pads & Rotors Replacement

The video will show you step-by-step how to replace the front brake pads with resurfaced rotors on a 2016 Acura MDX. The pads were worn down to 3 mm which is the minimum from which pad replacement is recommended. The replacement pads used with this brake job were Centrix PQ Pro (advertised to address issues related to brake fade, weak braking response, and excessive noise). If OEM pads are desired, the manufacturer is Akibono. Anti-rattle abutment clips came with the brake pad hardware kit and the original clips should be replaced since studies have show they normally loose their spring tension in as little as 35,000 to 45,000 miles. Caliper pins were lubricated with brake grease to provide even brake pad wear by allowing the caliper to “float”. The new pads were coated with BG Stop Squeal for eliminating or preventing brake noise by infusing the brake pad with ingredients that reduce sticking between the pad and rotor. With Stop Squeal, when pressure is applied, the vibrations are significantly reduced, thus brake noise is stopped.

Very nice walk through, thank you for posting. The added context on the "why" as opposed to just saying what to do was really helpful.

@hardly moving productions do it matter how to put the brake pins the longest one always go in the top and shorter in the bottom spot of the brake caliper ? If so I think I have a problem with mine I changed the rotors and brake pads fews months ago and I remember putting the longest pins in the top spot of the caliper. Thank you
