Christian Figueroa says:

good video man. I have a 2003 CL-s with 90k miles, and my trany fluid looks
really dark red almost brunette. I am concerned because if it is going bad
i might have to sell it instead of buying a new trany.

fooey88 says:

yep. even the dealership doesn’t change them out. most the parts guys don’t
even realize it’s there until you ask em to look it up. kinda funny but why
not.

Andre Handy says:

are these the same steps for a 2001 cl premium auto?

BossAriCh1187 says:

@pits200 i will try it thanks for your help! I thinks it time for me to
change the fluid I have never done anything to the tranny since it was
installed to replace a failed tranny. It was put into the CL around 90,000
miles and now has about 160,000 miles so I think it is time for a fluid
change to prevent any problems.

Juice says:

Thank you so much. Jus got my CL and too much oil is in it so this will def
help me. since i gotta drain some out. Much appreciated

pits200 says:

@coolfez88 You will only be able to drain 3 quarts at a time from the
transmission pan. So you drain the pan, fill it with 3 new quarts. Drive
the car hitting every gear, bring it home, then drain the pan again, fill
with 3 new quarts. You’re suppose to do this 3 times with 3 quarts each
time.

driftermomo says:

This tutorial was incredibly helpful when tackling the transmission fluid
change. I wish I had a monkey bar to break the fill bolt loose because it
was on very tight. Luckily, I had an impact gun to make the job easier. And
yes, a 10″ extension is an absolute must have on this job.

gwalia4 says:

Are you sure that it is a tranny filter. I thought honda did not have a
filter for tranny. If yes why did you not replace the tranny filter.

pits200 says:

@jaswlee1 Sorry, I’m not sure.

BossAriCh1187 says:

Very helpful video…….I own a 2001 3.2cl and Im thinking about changing
the transmission fluid hoping to extend the life of the transmission……I
heard from several people that if your trans fluid gets low you should add
extra fluid through the dip stick port but never change it bcuz it will
soon cause the transmission to fail due to the poorly built
transmission……..what is your opinion about this?

ChriZ LoC says:

atf z1 is better than the dw1..?

pits200 says:

@dipsetallstar7 Yes

vernondozier says:

good vid. no uhhhssss and uummmmssss. thanks for posting.

pits200 says:

Jetta is right, be sure to jack up the car on the other side to get that
last 1/8 of a quart of fluid out…lol

Jason Lee says:

@pits200 are these the same steps for a 1999 3.0 CL?

jettaracer56 says:

You should have jacked the car up on the other side so gravity would help
drain as much fluid as possible.

wesley andre says:

My Tran just went out

LiberalD2 says:

did you say change the trans filter too? I didn’t realize there was one….

americannegr0 says:

How often should I change the fluid? I just bought an 02 TL (154,000 miles)
and the fluid is low and kind of dirty. Should I change the all of the
fluid or just do the 3 quart process? What are your thoughts on Lucas
transmission fix?

pits200 says:

Ya, it’s definitely a tranny filter. I changed it a few weeks ago before I
thought about making a video on how to change the transmission fluid. But
trust me, even if the dealership tells you there isn’t one, they are wrong.
It’s definitely a transmission filter.

fooey88 says:

@americannegr0 don’t seem that upset =/

Robert Eladham says:

should do the filter as well.

pits200 says:

@jerkm4n101 That’s perfectly fine, just takes a little more finesse to make
that method work.

V Rey says:

Yes lefty loosely (counter clock-wise) & righty tightly (clock-wise)
applies to the all bolts. He hit the ratchet to the “left” (counter
clock-wise) direction. As for the stripped bolt head maybe if he use the
wrong size socket or the ratchet slipped off the bolt. Buy a set of damaged
Bolt/Nut Remover sockets (can be found at sears or etc) or try to use a
vice grips if they fit. Good luck.

jerkm4n101 says:

HI i have a question my mechanic put the transmission oil where the yellow
dipstick was does it matter that he places in from there ? Acura cl type S
2001.

americannegr0 says:

@pits200 I replaced the fluid and now the car doesnt drive at all. Is that
a comon problem? I used 3 quarts of Z1 and now I cant even get the car back
on the driveway. The transmission was in bad shape but it was driveable.

phi says:

Can you tell me what draining the fluid will do I havnt changed it at all
in 5 years

pits200 says:

@americannegr0 – I love lucas products but transmission fix is a big no-no
unless you know your tranny is almost shot and it’s a last ditch effort.
Most transmission additives cause foaming and then dry the seals due to the
detergents in them. Best thing to do is buy 9 quarts of Honda transmission
fluid and do a 3 quart replacement once. Drive the car for 20 minutes
hitting all 5 gears then do another 3 quart change, repeat the 20 minute
drive then replace the last 3 quarts.

Mike C says:

Hey thanks for this video ! There’s not enough love for Cl – s

Tbirds122 says:

great vid very helpful

FAM DERI says:

i thought that fluid was discontinued .? have you used the dw-1 fluid yet?

Bunongboyz says:

Does this apply acura cl 3.0 99? my dad stripped the bolt, it seems like he
didn’t inserted the 3/8 ratchet all the way and prolly turn the wrong
direction. I’ve done some research and they say to follow the rule, right
tighty, lefty loosey. but in your video, you hit it towards the right.
please correct me.

pits200 says:

@BossAriCh1187 The people who have informed you about changing the fluid
needed to provide you a little more info. They most likely are talking
about a transmission flush which is meant to replace all 9 quarts of fluid
using a machine and high pressure to flush the system. Now that is a bad
idea if you have an older transmission because the high pressure can cause
damage to the seals. Stick with the 3 quart replacement method for best
results. Good luck

jon good says:

Hi, I have a question, do the last 3 quarts is what u keep right? You use 6
quarts to flush- 2 flushes of 3 quarts each? Thanks

oscar rendon says:

@jettaracer56 hey guys i wonder if any of you can help me, im working on
this car i bought it cras, now my question is, does the tranny for this car
have radiator hose? meaning does the radiator plug in to the tranny and
where in the tranny does it go plugged in? because i bought a radiator for
a v6 accord everything fits but i have 2 hoses coming from the radiator and
i wonder if all i need is seal them bcz i dont see where in the tranny they
plug in. paisa1117@hotmail.com thank you!
