1998 TL Radiator Replacement (GoPro) -EricTheCarGuy

This video covers the radiator replacement in a 1998 Acura 3.2TL. The information also applies to the 91-95 Acura Legend, the 96-2004 Acura RL, and the 96-98 3.2TL. I’ve done a few radiator…

What genius thought that plastic tanks on a radiator were a good idea? You
know that’s just going to fail at some point… There’s plenty of good
places on a car to save weight by using ABS plastic — the radiator isn’t
one of them!

dainternetguru says:

You should do your videos in 1080p or higher (4K?) now that you have a
GoPro.

William Huber says:

Eric, did you get a new camera for your intro scenes? It looks a LOT
crisper. Or maybe my eyes are seeing things this morning.

slscout says:

the fast time reassembly music is nice

Jakub Polomsky says:

Hey Eric, maybe it could help you in the future, so I am sharing this with
you. I have acura 35rl from the same vintage and I also had to replace the
radiator few months ago. My approach about the fans was to leave everything
attached to them and unscrew them from the radiator. I did it like that,
because it was very frustrating to remove the plastic brackets for the
cables. I thought it would be more difficult to pull the radiator
afterwards but it was even easier! Nothing catching on the tcs valve etc
etc etc. Keep the good videos coming!!

donyboy73 says:

nice with the gopro

krzysiekv12 says:

do you ever fix german cars 2005+?

Joseph Costello says:

Great video Eric. I love the GoPro. You didn’t mention if you blew out the
transmission lines on the new radiator.

zx8401ztv says:

Smashing video eric 😀
The headcam was an unusual touch, an erics-eye-view 🙂

That new rad looked very nice, good suppliers eric :D

George Heri says:

Eric good vid, and 1-800- radiator is a good choice. I use them all the
time always a direct fit. Some aftermarket from the parts store almost fit
that could make for a bad day. enjoy your new lift.

Keith Letchford says:

ETCG at its best, but no more lying down on the job for you, Eric. Noticed
you were blowing a bit too, not a youngster any more but it happens to all
of us. The amnesia bit is fun too, do you go to your toolbox and forget
what you went for?

Captain Morgan says:

dude you need a new funnel. it looks like you dug it up from the backyard.

Chance06Se says:

As always have to watch your latest uploads. Go pro is interesting
perspective, but i had to turn it off halfway through as i get terrible
motion sickness. Post stabilization might fix part of it for me, though I
don’t think i still could handle as much horizon shifting (unavoidable with
head set go pro). Changing camera views from fix point camera to headset
would be fine for me.

J Jones says:

did you really stick your hand in the cooling fan?

Mak933 says:

On my 99 Accord, my radiator lasted about 14 years. Pretty darn good if
you ask me. I did the radiator replacement job myself, but I cheaped out
and purchased a $100 aftermarket radiator, instead of the OEM at $350.
Seemed like a good idea at the time, but the problem is that the
aftermarket radiator started to leak (in the same spot) after a year. The
leak isn’t terrible and I only need to top it off about once a year, but
it’s still very annoying.

James Barcellano says:

Hey Eric. What would you call the suit you are wearing? And where would I
look to buy one?

Daniele Dal Col says:

The spark plugs top tip is genius! thx :)

Attila theHun says:

…much like a Paul Greengrass movie.

Layne Brown says:

Eric I like the go pro aspect of this video!

tsaerman says:

Not to switch gears Eric but my daughter wants me to replace her 2001 Acura
Timing Belt. I downloaded your Honda J Series V6 video and it’s sure going
to come in handy. Watching this video also reminded me of those days when
you were working in that small little dark garage. Thanks for the video and
it’s money well spent if you compare it to the cost of having a stealership
do it.

dff090 says:

Eric nice to see how safely you work and personal safety equipment those
glasses and the gloves. Many people are unaware how invasive oil grease
and other products are to the human body, many have suffered a flesh eating
disease a result of DIY projects. Be safe.

commodore665 says:

made before your lift was installed Eric ; )

Haloruler64 says:

Just did a radiator on my 96 Corolla, your tips from previous radiator
videos were super helpful! Everything from spark plugs to silicone spray
for the rubber. Thankfully the job was easier than this Acura.

Jan de Bruin says:

I notice that Acura has a lot of those spring type hose clamps that are
really tricky to remove. Would you recommend replacing them with screw/band
type clamps where possible?

klc317 says:

Nice new view Eric!

Edward Martin says:

Hey can u call its important I’ve been watching your videos of the 1.8
motor for Hondas and Acuras 1990 models I need you to call me I’ve tried
everything to solve my problem my number is 979 221 8339 please I need help
I have a four month old baby thank you

circuitbreaker921 says:

I’m liking the video quality and the 60Hz refresh rate! Looks great! That
little GoPro does a great job shooting quality video! Is this your first
video shot with it? I’m guessing so, because I’ve never seen any of your
videos in 60Hz.

TheCreatorofTNHB says:

one thing i do if i replace the clamp is to cut the old one off if it is
leaking. boss would give me heck if i didn’t take it off

Whiteyy191 says:

Eric what do you prefer as a radiator material, brass/copper or aluminium?

meviewer2 says:

the main thing i learn from this is that hondas can leak oil like crazy,
and from the looks of it you do not want to take on that project

rhkips says:

Elevator tightening music! 😀

If you ever find yourself bored, I’d love to see you do a cooling system
service on a VW Vanigon. Step 1: Don’t… ;-D
