SANYUR says:

FEL-PRO head gaskets are the best, which cost $60 each side or $300 for
the kit, do not buy $20 dollar headgasket or $60 to $100 for the kit.

dagozepp says:

Would this be a tuff job to do for a weekend end home mechanic.I have a
chance to buy a 1991 Acura Legend Coupe with a blown headgasket for $500 in
my neighborhood.150,000 and very clean car.thx for your time,

Ryo Duong says:

My C32A Engine in my Legend lasted almost 250K, I believe it can go more
than 300K, even with or without proper maintenance (It’s always with,
though I accidentally used Unleaded, though it was only 3 gallons in). The
engine I had in my Saab before I sold it only lasted 150K, until BHG
Happens. I even took care of it. Needless to say, Time and money wasted.

MasterFu says:

@civicboy123 Thanks for the advised, I just found that the fan doesn’t work
maybe I try to fix the fan first if I’m lucky can get this car to run with
out over heating for other 6 month I should save enough money to get a
better one. Thanks bro.

Alex Ritter says:

Question – why do you figure this repair will cost $1200?

TheDJMacShow says:

Hi. Do you work on Toyota engines? I have a head gasket blown 91 4runner.
1MZ-FE.

DAQUAN88 says:

Do you have to take the timing cover off when putting the timing belt back
on? PS I see it was still on!

erik løvtangen says:

did you like to take off the right exost pipe on the exhost manifold?

Desi Bravo says:

Hi civicboy123, was wondering how you torn down the engine to get to the
headgaskets. Mine is flowing coolant from the radiator to the reservoir. I
have noticed you didn’t removed the crankshaft pulleys and the ac pulley.
You still have the belts intacts, and managed removing the heads. How did
you do that? 🙂 You can email me at bravo659@hotmail.com thanks.

khsmith06 says:

How much did you charge?

jakesmobilemechanicservices says:

@Sbotfanta I pulled of the head with the exhaust manifold still attached.
There are 3 14mm bolts that you have to undo that attach the exhaust pipe
to the manifold. Hopefully your bolts are not rusted, can be a PIA if they
are rusted.

dpstarcom says:

@hoopfan71 no this takes alot of experience

pureskillz15 says:

I have made my own head gaskets so i dont think using ebays shits gonna
matter well i made a thermostat gasket

therebellionsound says:

Hi there i was wondering where on ebay you got your head gaskets from ? Do
you remember the ebay store name or where in california they came from? I
wanna make sure i get the same ones as you did, most of the 60 dollar ones
don’t say if its OEM , just says graphite head gaskets and what other
gaskets it comes with in the descriptions. thanks for your help Josh

Sxey Steve says:

not all american engines suck. just the ones from the 80’s on. i have a 68
ford small block (4.7) it has all original parts except for a few small
things like gaskets, water pump and thermostat and the thing starts up
instantly, runs great and wont die unless you drop a bomb on it. i even
managed to run it after improperly adjusting the valves, effectively giving
it no compression. not saying these engines suck either, just making sure
you know that america can build a durable, reliable car.

jakesmobilemechanicservices says:

@DEZ4569 I wish I could! All I can say with these cars is that this job is
a PIA.

rickrock999 says:

Just blew the head gasket on a 92 Legend coupe at 193,000 miles. I’m
getting rid of it, anyone want to buy it? the body is straight except the
front quarter panel on the passenger side. rickrock999@yahoo.com

ORIGINAL gangsta says:

my oil and antifreeze mix in the radiator. i need new gaskets but cant
afford it, what do i do.

Tonyoneandonly Smith says:

thanks for the info

jakesmobilemechanicservices says:

@Lavahgo I can do one of these HG jobs in about 12hrs. There is alot of
labor involvedin this job. If your a beginner, and don’t have air tools and
are encountering rusted bolts it could take you about 24hr to 30hrs to do.

qasion says:

I couldn’t understand what yo were saying about the “pressure bleeding to
the resvoire” !? Could somebody explain what happens when a head gasket is
failing? Thanks

TheScorpion0006 says:

@civicboy123 I am 50% mechanic, how hard is it to replace a head gasket? I
am just afraid of not doing it right because the acura engine is a pain to
work with. The only problem is that every mechanic wants charge me from
$2,500 to $3,000. My car is worth it but I think they are trying to fuck
me, and I have no acura or honda dealer to take my car but I will try JDM
motor to see if they have a good engine, Thank you for your help I really
appreciate it.

MrJsowa says:

@pureskillz15 big differance between a t-stat gasket and a head
gasket……like compression heat,blah blah blah

Pablo Romero says:

when u do this, do u need to replace any other gaskets????

Ben Lee says:

How would u take bolts off if its rusted an stripped out any answers would
help thank you e-mail: benleeatl@gmail.com

EJConrad says:

Great Video! Nice work.

kwg2005 says:

failed head gasket. I had this problem on my old grand am. I paid a shop to
fix it tho.

chitownz420 says:

i want to cry now i had the same car wit the same prob i miss my car ima
get me a new one tho like a 94 legend

Enzo Deuce says:

Hi, my 91 Legend radiator cracked from over heating, at the time my girl
was driving, and she said when she cut the car off and checked the oil it
was bone dry!! Can u give me any idea what the issue is & what I have to do
to get my baby back on the road?

jakesmobilemechanicservices says:

@BloodyMonkey1000 Sounds like a bad main relay under the driverside dash.
When you try to start the car do you hear relay click? If you don’t, it
sounds like the relay is the problem. When it gets super hot out the main
relays tend to act up the most causing a no start condition. You could also
have a bad ignitor in the distributor which will also cause a no start
condition.

lawtowngirl85 says:

saab is not as reliable as a honda? really?

TheScorpion0006 says:

same problem my car over heating? head gaskets.I look for a good engine
didn’t find it all of them had from 150.000 to 190.000 miles not worth it

jakesmobilemechanicservices says:

@RCTPatriot75 The Legends are truely a one of a kind vehicle. The Acura
Legend is a Legend and will go down in automotive history. Its pretty much
the vehicle that Acura was founded on, and what made Acura the vehicle it
is today.

Ryo Duong says:

Though they’re not as reliable as a Honda or a Subaru..

UBBERTANKER says:

how many hours do they charge out for doing the pair of head gaskets?

jakesmobilemechanicservices says:

It takes about 12 hrs to do this with hand tools. With air tools i would
say about 10 hrs. Fairly difficult job to do!

coolgames14 says:

did the engine overheat when the gasket blow ?

Leo Wells says:

I don’t have a Legend but I have a Vigor. Same tell tale signs, coolant
overflow crap, blew a coolant hose… blah blah. Sucks! $1,150 to replace
head gasket on the 2.5 5 cylinder, but they’re worth it!

20044avonbaby says:

Nah i jus bout one with this head gasket problem… shid i wish u could do
my shit!.. lol

Desi Bravo says:

mizumoauto sells aftermarket graphite headgaskets so the set is complete? I
thought we only suppose to use only OEM? I appreciate your feedback

lawtowngirl85 says:

as i said you like Honda i love Saab both good cars you pick Honda over
Saab i pick Saab over Honda. its a matter of taste and is not an offense to
me if you want a honda you like it good

bloodraing says:

how much do you think it will coast to swap a new engine into a legend if
you already have a legend?

DoctorDARKSIDE says:

I guess (repeat, I guess) that this kind of failure mostly occurs on the
rear cylinders is due to higher working temperatures. The back part of the
heads is certainly in a position where hot air hardly flows away, plus the
coolant has to reach the farthest point from the radiator hence again…
higher temps.

quenshawn says:

THE LEGEND IS A GREAT CAR AND IF THE BODY IS IN GREAT CONDITION AND THE
INTERIOR IS AT LEAST FAIR CONDITION THE THIS JOB IS WORTH DOING. BUT IF YOU
DRIVE A BUSTED LEGEND THAT HAS OVER 250,000 MILES ITS NOT WORTH IT . JUST
CRUSH IT FOR CASH AND GET SOMETHING ELSE CAUSE YOU WILL COME OUT MUCH
CHEAPER . I SPENT 250 A PIECE TO GET EACH HEADS SHAVED

jakesmobilemechanicservices says:

@TheScorpion0006 If the motor still runs ok, but needs head gaskets I would
just replace the head gaskets and call it a day. I’ve seen used junk yard
engines with the same issue. Your best bet is a JDM motor and they usually
runs about $1000 with shipping. Just look around and you should have no
problem finding a JDM motor.
