We continue working on our Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera DIY Clutch replacement, but run into a snag. It turns out that the Lamborghini Gallardo service manual has the WRONG torque specifications for the bolts that hold the clutch to the flywheel! It says 70nm but that is WAY too high for these small bolts. Well, I should have listened to my instincts and done less torque, but I ended up following the book and snapping one of the bolts! Thankfully we were able to get the rest of the bolt out of the flywheel and save the clutch!

The service manual for the Gallardo is hot garbage. You might get a torque spec, you might not. If it's there, maybe it's wrong, maybe not? Clearly writing the manual was left to the interns. At some point I just started using the torque specs from my NSX's manual for the same size thread-pitch/diameter bolt into the appropriate material (e.g. threaded into AL). There is no service manual quite as thorough as a Japanese service manual.
Thanks for the video. You’ve confirmed why it’s so expensive to change and why I don’t think I would ever attempt it!
Are you filming in a dark garage? Please improve lighting….
So what is the torque required on the M10 bolt if not 70 N.m ???
Yeah..I cringed when you went to torque those small bolts that high…lol. My Quartermaster race clutch has a torque spec of like 20 foot lbs for those…hehe
You should consider different cats or deleting them due to the inherent design of the factory cats causing cylinder scarring.
where did you find a rear bumper frame where most of the tabs brake or fall apart from the heat.
I need to buy one for my car.
Thank You
Dan can you messure the old clutch plate to show the wear?
there's not a lambo master tech on site, how is this even possible? absolutely amazing work…@@" how did u research all the steps and spec?
World's darkest garage
So I Been Told Your Grandfather Was A Movie Star Wow
You should always replace the pilot bearing no matter if it looks good or not as you will have to redo the entire job if it goes bad before the new clutch end… 🙁 and the reason as to why you snap that bolt is because you have to put pressure on the finger to release the pressure… usually you need a specialist tool to do it or you can make your own… and it is 70nm
How did this become a partnership? Sorry. Didn't check in for a while and somehow missed that even though I've seen most of your content. Been subscribed since the beginning of your channel but missed that. Anyone wanna fill me in 🙂
Great video, light years from when you had 150 subs. After the trans is done, need a whining w Dan segment and bring the Texas lawyer back too.
Looks like a simple DIY project….
Lol. It looks like quite a shitty job. At least it's still better than a A or B class Mercedes where you have to take out the whole damn engine with the transmission
