I have this same vehicle 🙂 If it's not too late, would you consider including a Parts List (with Subaru Part Numbers too) in the description? I know that you typically video the part prior to taking it from the box, showing us the Part Number (thanks!), but I also think a Master List in the description would be awesome. I would use it as a reference check against what the guy at the Subaru Parts Counter is looking up in the schematics for me, and making sure it coincides (especially for a big commitment job like this one). Thanks for your consideration!

Thanks MrSubaru1387 for another fine video! I will LITERALLY have my laptop sitting on top of the engine bay for reference as I'm performing this replacement !!

Michelle K. says:

After you rotate the engine clockwise (by hand) for 2 full revolutions, is it to be expected that the marks on the timing belt will no longer line up with the marks on the crank and cam pulleys like they did when you first installed the new belt? Also, what is considered "2 full revolutions" of the engine? Is it 2 full clockwise turns of the actual crank? Sorry for the rookie questions, and THANKS!

How much do you owe the SnapOn truck driver?.. Amazing tools BTW.

Hello again Mr Subaru. I'm thinking about replacing my water pump and timing belt on my 2010 Impreza WRX so would it be the same process as this video? I'm thinking about getting the Gates racing timing belt kit with water pump. Have any experience with this product? Thanks again for the helpful videos!

jomax clux says:

DO i have to drain the radiator if i take the top hose off? Because i don't want to do that for this job.

Alexander Bondarchuk says:

This was a great video. Thanks for the help!

Michael Meersman says:

Do you recommend "burping" the belt tensioner before installing as recommended on the part instructions? It says to cycle the tensioner piston 3 times in a bench vice. Think it's necessary or just extra precaution?

Steve Rothman says:

using your video to do my timing belt. Would I be able to start the car before putting the cover on just to see if it's running ok.

mega catares says:

Did you use coca cola for coolant? 🙂

ESPN OCHO says:

What if I'm off a 16th of an inch on timing belt markings is it good to go or start over

Tony Bain says:

Thanks for the great video! step by step and everything explained. Ive never seen that funnel tool before, i'll have to make one now!

nvmyutube says:

plain and basic with detailed instructions, not a bad "how to" at all, well thought out and clear.
The comments section here is golden 🙂

Great video. Used it to change out a water pump, thermostat and timing belt on a 2012 outback 2.5 litre. Everything went together well but when I tried to start it, it started and then died after a couple of seconds of running. It gave a MAF circuit low input error, throttle position sensor A circuit hight input error, intake air Temp sensor 1 circuit hight input, throttle/pedal position sensor B circuit high input, MAF circuit low input. When I unplug the MAF sensor, the vehicle started and ran ok so replaced the MAF sensor but it stalls out again. Any suggestions as to what I am missing. It seems like I've missed plugging in some sensor but I've gone over vehicle numerous times and I can't find anything.

Hi, I'm having problems keeping the drivers side cam gear in correct position and getting the toothed sprocket around the timing belt. Any tips on how you do that would be greatly appreciated.

danbau08 says:

Wonder if its the same, at least close, on a 2007 Forester?

Kennynva says:

Your respond faster than anyone I know of…thanks alot…

Kennynva says:

Wellllllll…I got the belt on…with a extremely rough time….and went to pull the pin…and guess what…IT WILL NOT COME OUT..and the ring broke off when I put too much pulling force on it. Every one I seen here on youtube just pulled it out..with no trouble…what gives.??? Please dont tell me I was suppose to compress the pin down enough to allow the pin to be pulled out easier BEFORE I put the tensioner on..

Kennynva says:

well I got another question….there was a washer on the hydraulic tensioner that fell out…which side does it go on..behind the bolt, against the engine, or under the head of the bolt? thanks.

Kennynva says:

I dont know what it is…Im doing it for someone else, and have no way now to look at the engine…It is a 2002 Forester, and I believe there is two different kits for that engine..What is the difference so I can look the next time I go to this persons house to repair it…thanks…for the nice video..

Kennynva says:

Are the torque settings the same on different engines??

Need help! 2008 Outback 2.5 NA – Forgot to line up marks before pulling idlers, tensioner popped, expletives followed. Really mad at myself, watched your great video several times and still managed to mess up. What can I do to correct?

KhiDemo says:

Thanks, just completed a Legacy 2.5i premium.

Have you done a CVT fluid change video on this 2011 outback?
