We currently do not have an auto repair video with that particular repair. You may be able to apply some of the basic steps taken in this video to your application. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
WOULD THIS BE THE SAME FOR CHANGING THE PADS ON A 2004 DEVILLE FRONT AND BACK?
The vehicle should be turned off and in park. I also helps to chock the wheels that are on ground so that the vehicle doesn’t roll. Hope this helps you out.We carry new brake pads and rotors for all kinds of different vehicles on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
does parking brakes need to be applied when changing the rear pads
If the rotors have mean measured out and are not warped or have any high spots, you do not have to remove it to change out pads.
do i have to take the extra steps of removin the rotors to only change the brake pads
It should be a similar process on that vehicle. We do carry brake pads and rotors for the Cadillac Seville. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
is this the same for the seviile sts?
Usually you can compress them a little bit with a flathead screw driver to remove them from the rotor, once they are off you can fully compress the caliper and put the new pads on.
I mean you can compress the caliper before removing pads or after.
Either ways to compress the caliper are good. Thanks.
thanks im doing the rear pads on a 99 deville de elagance
You do not need to. You can compress the caliper with it closed. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Do you crack the bleeder valve befor you c clamp the piston in?
looks like a new hub/bearing at 6:33.
Thanks for your quick reply and I enjoy your videos very much
The rear brakes may be a little different on your vehicle.
Hi, will this be the exact same process for the rear brake pad replacement on my 1998 deville concours? thanks!
your car should have came with this tool from the dealer if they are factory caps.
Yeah about this particular video sir is how to remove the hubcap theft stud, lock, or whatever the proper name for the tool required to remove the wire hub-caps.
However, I enjoy your videos and hope you continue. Thanks Vight.
Thanks. I figured it out and my mechanic buddy told and showed me that you have to SCREW the piston back into the caliber. So DUMB GM but, I got them on. I think I’ll put a video up the old school way on how it’s done now that I know. I put the other side on in less then 15 minutes.
We currently do not have an auto repair manual on that particular repair. If you have a Chiltons or a Haynes manual it should be covered in the book.
I’m with the guy who requested “HOW TO REMOVE & INSTALL “REAR PADS” on a 1995 Cadillac DeVille. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!! get that video up shortly bro. MUCH NEEDED NOW BADLY, LIKE TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here’s a link to our playlist on the 94-99 just copy and paste into your browser. youtube.com/watch?v=1qnvRgWv4M0&list=PLF21196CF697A47AB&feature=plcp
any vids on a 94 ? this video helped a lot 😀
1996 Deville rears deserve their own video, between the arm for the emergency brake & screwing the piston back in, they are way more of a hassle. Plus the wheel skirts just make it so dreamy to work on. Also I think a good point to make a separate vid for the rears is that the rear caliper swings up, you only take the bottom pin out. Something to think about….
The 1995 might be slightly different but will be the same concept as the 1996 so you would be able to still use this as a reference if you get stuck.
1995 does not look like that grr I did the rear ones. took me 4 hours soooooo rusted.
If you take your time they’re not to bad. Have a great day.
Thanks for a very helpful, straightforward video. I used it as my guide to do the brakes on a ’98 and now she stops (for a big Caddy) like a dream again.
