who makes those starters ? are they delco ? I have major access to parts 🙂
here , that looks like a delco like a chevrolet engine uses with a
different nose on it 😉
Smashing job 🙂 Ed’s a good mate, good frends are hard to find. You have
the bits to still make a spare starter, that would be handy and with a
splat of paint it would be nice. nice vid 🙂
Why do Holdens use Bosch starters? G.Ms here use AC Delco or Delco Remy
electrical parts, Chryslers used Autolite and then Prestolite, Fords used
Motorcraft or Autolite.
Hi, what engine are you running in that. I’m considering a ’75 xj6 sedan
that’s got a holden 308 in it. What’s your opinion? what should I look out
for? cheers Dan 🙂
You have some very interesting videos, but your camera has the worst sound
quality of any camera ever made in the entire history of the internet. Ed
could probably build you a better camera out of an old air conditioning
compressor using just the lathe and a hammer 🙂
Great starter autopsy and faultfinding, and showing us the cause of the
problem. The old starter is still salvageable I think. Brush holder spacing
to be realigned and extra thrust washer fitted at end of armature shaft.
Make a Bosch joke instead, Bosch and Lucas are almost equal in terms of
being an electrical disaster, Lucas goes open circuit and quits working,
Bosch also quits working with the special bonus of lighting your dash on
fire.
Thats much better! 😀 That old starter have been sad for quite some time,
been cranking like a halfdead battery for as long as i can remember. Btw
what was that about a broken cam that you mentioned in a video about that
engine ?
Lucas or Bosch, both Euro junk, both worthy of jokes. About the only things
that go on an American starter are the bushings and the solenoid unless you
abuse them.
Are we sure it is a Bosch starter? Maybe some Lucas Electric poltergeist in
the boot?
the cam and lifters are worn.
yep it good. thanks.
Bosch Has a Local manufacturing plant Here, Their Alternators and Starters,
as well as a few other stuff are Made in Australia!
Cool, I told ya that starter had some guts :D. looked nice inside too
People modded me down! Ain’t got no sense of humor.
where they superkings ?
first:)
arr but it was a commodore part that failed me 😛
Aussie Bosch starters are good!

Good ol Ed!!!
I’m surprised that the cat is not used to the car starts and other noises
you make when you work on cars at your garage.

good boy.
Can I make a Lucas Electric joke here?
American..what a joke. Don’t you mean Chinese or Taiwanese?

lol
oww its been raped for years. this summer it was real sad.
