Jose Leos says:

Is the driver side the same is the right side?

1A Auto Parts says:

What year is the Dodge Ram that your working on, and the series?

1A Auto Parts says:

HI Karl, Thanks for posting and watching our video. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

1A Auto Parts says:

@1foxisathome It should just slide into place. You may want to make sure
that there isn’t a piece of debris blocking it from going in.

hubbard771 says:

I know right… I used a pry bar and a 4 wheeler pulling on this damn thing
and it still wont pop off. This guy uses an 8″ pry bar and taps it off..
I’ll hop back on and let you know what works once I do manage to remove it.

JRHJBlatz says:

mine too! HELP????

1A Auto Parts says:

The door lock actuators may be getting weak, or you may also want to check
the wire harness between the drivers side door and the body of the truck,
to see if there’s a frayed wire that may be loosing power when you hit the
switch for the rear doors. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

SC14 says:

EXACTLY THE VID I NEEDED….THANK A MILLION!

Kenny Sutherland says:

I cannot get mine off on the differential side, what is the trick? it seems
like i just need a quarter inch to go, but cannot get it to budge. any ideas

telepicker83 says:

The half shaft that my 02 calls for in the parts stores is too short. Does
anyone know how I can tell if/how it’s been modified? Looks all stock…no
lift, etc…

1A Auto Parts says:

@telepicker83 You may want to have your local dealer run your VIN# to see
if it calls for a different part for some reason. Hope this helps you out.
Have a great day!

78kitty says:

@Karl Daigle THANK YOU so much for posting the tip to seperate the upper
ball joint! With this video & your tip I was finally able to remove the CV
axle on a ’04 Durango that was seized so tight I broke a 3-jaw puller, bent
the screw on another & even used MAP torch on & it still wouldn’t pop
loose! Now I finally have room to get at the lower ball joint I need to
replace.

tenobles says:

I have a 2002 ram 1500 4×4…. my axle seals ( where the cv axles are
inserted into the main axle tube/ diff.) need to be replaced. I have the
seals, and have searched every corner of the web hoping to find someone who
has tackled this task…. to no avail…. the dealership told me that the
front carrier has to be removed and a special tool was needed to remove the
seals from inside the axle… but are reinstalled from the outside of
course… makes no sense to me…..

1A Auto Parts says:

Normally you need a special to get the seals in and out. They do sit within
the axle case to prevent leaks from the inside out.

ral819 says:

Also, On my 2006, the hub nut is a 36mm. Check it first before you get
started.

ral819 says:

It looks easy here, it’s not. Secondly, make sure you correctly diagnose
what is going on with your truck. I replaced both the CV Joint and a Hub
assembly on a 2006 SLT 4×4. The problem is still there and is actually the
differential. I believe it’s covered by the warranty. I’m out the bucks for
a CV joint and Hub assembly plus install. My bad, don’t let it happen to
you….Be careful.

Brett Gayney says:

Thank you!

1foxisathome says:

what is the secret to getting the differential end of the shaft to slip
over the retaining clip. The video shows it just popping right on, mine
wont go on for anything. Also, if the bearing is seized in the steering
knuckle, heat is necessary to remove it, a small soldering torch does the
trick, very little heat needed

camdencountybrawler1 says:

I cant the Axle off the differential! I been pushing and pulling and
beating on that thing for 3 hours You just popped it off and pushed it
right out. what the heck am I not doing right?

1A Auto Parts says:

Thanks for checking us out. Have a great day. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

Butter Bean says:

great vid, do you guys have a video on how to replace the drivers/left
front axle u-joint on a 1999 1500 ram. my u-joint is bad and have to
replace it. Thanks

1A Auto Parts says:

We currently do not have an auto repair video that shows this particular
repair.

Kenny Sutherland says:

I have a 2002 1500 quad cab like the one the video

benshivd says:

It should probably be mentioned .I guess you maybe did not know. Those hubs
on these trucks are on recall for lubrication / failure issue.Other wise
its a 500-700 dollar repair.

1A Auto Parts says:

It should come free like shown in this video. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

andyffemti says:

Mine is stuck on there horribly. I can’t get it to even back 1mm away from
the differential.

oASSAULTo says:

you should have videos for BMWs!!

Mark Mouton says:

i have a 2002dodge ram 1500 my power locks work on the front dooors but on
the back doors it doesn’t unlock the doors all the way. The locks disengage
partially not all the way. I have to manually pull up the locks to open the
doors. What do I do in fxiing this problem?

1A Auto Parts says:

If there’s not enough clearence room to slide the axle out you may need to
remove the lower ball joint to slide the axle out.

Peter Z says:

I cannot get the old axle off of the differential. I have been bangin on my
crow bar for 3 hours not and has baley moved. There has got to be some
other way to get it out. Or is there something I am doing wrong?

1A Auto Parts says:

What year is the Dodge Ram that you’re working on?

inktoxicated says:

i had shop change front cv’s but on the front passenger side the cv pulled
out with the stub axle/bearing? stuck to it? is that normal?

Karl Daigle says:

For those of you that can’t get the differential side to pop off, remove
the UPPER ball joint, not the lower. The way the bolt goes into the lower,
you will not get it back in with the CV shaft in place. This should give
you the clearance to remove and install the new one.
