This video shows you how to install a heater blower motor on your 2011-2018 Volkswagen Jetta. The blower motor, and typically integrated fan, is responsible for blowing the heated or cooled air from your heat or AC system into the cabin of your vehicle. A fan could become noisy if it is broken, or could stop spinning all together.

This repair was done on a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta S Sedan 4-Door FWD and the process should be similar on the following vehicles:
2011 Volkswagen Jetta
2012 Volkswagen Jetta
2013 Volkswagen Jetta
2014 Volkswagen Jetta
2015 Volkswagen Jetta
2016 Volkswagen Jetta
2017 Volkswagen Jetta
2018 Volkswagen Jetta

I need help, I need to find how to do this on a 2019 VW Tiguan! Anyone have any idea? The video I did find here on YT is one of a Tiguan not here in the US so I’m assuming the process is different.

Thanks for posting this video. I just replaced the blower fan in my 2013 VW TDI Jetta Sportswagen. It only took about 20 minutes. I'll repeat what other commenters have said. Take your time and don't force it.

@screamscape says:

Our fan unit vibrated something awful when you turn the fan on high. Had the used car dealer replace it when we bought it, but the 'new' fan they said they put in vibrates even worse and at lower speed setting now. I can put my hand on the motor casing when running and just feel the vibrations causing the noise. So did they maybe install it wrong, put in a bad quality fan, or could the tabs just not be seated properly to be causing this issue?

Just replaced my blower motor on my 2016 Jetta and this video made it so easy thanks for the great video

@youssefslm3542 says:

Does it need an oiling. My blower makes a squeak noise

@stephenbell4937 says:

I was able to use this video to do this on a 2016 Jetta. Take your time and try not to force anything and you will be fine. It took me about 25 minutes as laying down and working at this awkward angle tends to wear you out. I did pull the carpet back a little and that made getting the new one in a little easier. $41 to replace it as of February 2024.

@christophercastillo7365 says:

is this the same for the GLI trim? i hope someone has info on that. I been looking all over.

@devonjudah1108 says:

Is this the same process for a 2012 Volkswagen CC?

@Neil1492-2 says:

My 2011 Jetta had a wire harness that prevented the blower from removal. I found that if you remove the glovebox it's far easier than this video. The glovebox is held in with 3 screws at the top, two on the bottom and one hidden behind the panel next to the door. Once you remove the glovebox you need to undo 4 wiring harnesses attached to the box. Then you can unscrew the vent that's held on with 1 screw. This will easily allow you to remove the blower motor. You can also pull the carpet down to gain more clearance if you have a wiring harness in the way like I did.

I want to establish. Don't do it this way if you're like me with bad back issues. Take the dash apart. I wound up hurting trying to get it back in. Made the no no of trying to rush it and force it. Broke the fan. Luckily it was the old one that I assumed went out and started working when I replaced the resistor.

@niqlaflame4119 says:

Is it the same for 2019
