$4300 ABS Module Fix!! #fail #volkswagen #mechanic #diy #howto #build #cars #tools #engine #audi

The dealer quoted $4300 for this ABS module fix!! Can we do it for cheaper? The workarounds we used basically involve swapping a portion of the module…

$4300 seems high. on prius’s(priui?) it’s a common failure as well and being a hybrid it’s pricey. but parts and labor it’s in the $2500 range

My 2010 has this

Glad I grew up in the 1970's snowbelt with rear wheel drive with No abs- actually 4 wheel drum brakes. Lol, we survived….

@kentho6114 says:

Had it twice. T5 and Caddy. Caddy still has an ESP issue. Got the abs module programmed to the abs pump. Was much cheaper

It all really depends

@JosefvGom says:

German mechanic here, we have a few companies that are taking your old module apart. They're solding a few new parts onto the board, and that's all you need to make it work smoothly again.
It's 450€ incl shipping and takes 5 weeks. Labor depending on the shop.

VW= Virtually worthless

@donjohnson1830 says:

550 for the part, another 500 labor?
Unless there are some “while you’re in there items”
