Also depends on altitude. Here in Johannesburg we are at 1600 metres/ 6000 feet . Oxygen is lower at altitude

@MarkTurner-vs7uc says:

Wht don't they just make it simple? Because they are crooks

@blipco5 says:

Is this applicable to other brands as well? Including turbos?

@angusproud1971 says:

Be carefull with the PCV valve, it is a metered leak the ECU EXPECTS a certain measured airflow thru that valve, pinching the hose closed will send it to rich as that metered air suddenly disappears making you think its an issue when its not. Visual inspection is best to see if spring is broken or valve is stuck open or guts are missing.

I had a lean code on my 3.5 2003 Pathfinder V6 on one bank. I did not know how to properly diagnose what was wrong with the car but I got lucky. After eliminating mechanical stuff from the equation like replacing fuel filter, cleaning MAF, checking for vacuum leaks, I decided to replace offending bank's upstream O2 sensor with OEM part and problem went away

Rant LOL. In the age of fast and tiny computers where the PCM and BCM and all other CMs that even controls your turn signal lights, not to mention AI, you would think the auto manufacturers can out a better diagnosis software that can do all of the steps Ahmed did then flash a true cause not a stupid generic code devised in the 1980s. Stop flashing a CEL light and a stupid code. I rather have this type of software in the fancy built in tablet than 90% of the dumb apps they bundle. . I swear it's possible and very easy. I am a software developer and I tell you it's not that hard. That way you, you mechanic or the dealer can save $$$ and hours of diagnosis. Done ranting

32:26 it is more like what code do i have which parts do i test for proper function. Great Video, nice refresher. It reminds me of a parts cannon customer i HAD that did not believe that leaving the oil fill cap loose with no gasket would hurt his engine. After he got the engine rebuild i am waiting to hear about his Catalytic Converter needing replacement. I fired that customer because he would not pay for a proper diagnosis. He trusted his own judgment over my experience!

THANK YOU! P0174 was the code on our 2017 RX350 that cost us over $1,500 from the dealer. It turned out that we did NOT have dirty injectors on a car with less than 45,000 miles, and NO stop/go traffic. A month later, same code buy would not exceed 25 MPH. Could not take it on the highway, so went to a trusted garage who found out it was a bad coil. We no longer trusted Lexus autos after driving them for 24 years.

This is way, way above my pay grade…

@robbrobb2161 says:

Thank-you very .much for a great explanation

@OMAR6575 says:

@merlynn885 says:

I have no code but fuel issues

@ExogenousBox says:

Can you talk about Drive-start control error with P2271 code?

Thanks for the video. Great as always

@RobertKohut says:

One time I had a cam position sensor code for bank 1 on my v8 Mustang. I diagnosed it to be failing rectifier in the alternator. It was periodically putting out an AC voltage and that caused the sensor code. Always follow the diagnosis flow chart to determine the "real" cause for a code. 🙂

Great video AMD!!! Love these type of instructional ones for us DYI mechanics!!

@yournightmare9999 says:

If you have these errors, take your Lexus or Toyota straight to the scrap yard

@jstarr11111 says:

Thank You Professor! Great video!

@jeancassel says:

I learned the calculated load check from you AMD from years ago, that's always on top of my list before I even attempt to clean the MAF sensor.

@sharifsircar says:

I don't even own a toyota, here I am haha

@trewten5579 says:

P0171 on my 06 solara was clogged fuel injectors! I tried new PCV valve, upstream 02 sensor, MAF sensor, smoked for leaks, finally took it into a shop and it was the injectors!!

@luisangeltrinidad5666 says:

I didn understand much, Cuz I am not a mechanic but I love ur explaination, cheers!

@scottlin777 says:

I appreciate this guy so much I feel like taking a road trip from Ohio to Illinois to go to your shop for an oil change

@Arthur-sz7uf says:

I had a camry with a p0171, however fuel trims looked good at idle, and above idle. The minute I pressed the brake pedal, short fuel trim went to 21percent.
