Customer dropped off his clean 2012 Toyota Venza FWD with a “low power, running rough” complaint. It has the 4-cylinder 2.7L 1AR-FE engine with only 160k miles on it.
Code set is a P0301 – Cylinder 1 Misfire.
Other shops already tried changing coils, plugs, compression test.
They even wired in a NEW PIGTAIL for the cylinder 1 Ignition Coil for some reason.
Let’s take this Toyota for a test drive and try to reproduce the customer complaint.
Problem is this fault is VERY intermittent!! Usually the car drives just fine!
What do we do when the issue is so hard to reproduce?
We still need to give the customer an answer and a recommendation…
