Please use anything else but Lucas…Their formulations are bottom of the barrel in any objective test. The whole company was founded by a truck driver with no background in engineering or tribology.
drain plug ? so american vehicles could have a drain plug in their differential covers………but instead they just take the cover off and dump the fluid out into a pan and its really messy…………when the drain plug should be on the physical bottom of the pumpkin=the lowest point to completely drain the gear oil out and then remove the cover making it a no mess job……..ill shut up now
Oh how I wish the front differential was that easy….
What about the front differential? It is part of the transmission. But it is separate and has its own fill and drain plugs, like the rear differential. It uses the same lube as the rear.
What engine is this? 2.0 i 110kw petrol?
I really want to do this myself on my new to me 2017 Forester. Is there anything I need to be aware of or ways I could potentially screw something up as a first timer?
this is so stupid, what was wrong with the engine bay fill port where you could simply fill the oil standing up and using a funnel?
That differential doesn't feel well
The Conklin Company makes great gear oils.
I can smell that fluid from here
I would only use the recommended oil by Subaru.
I love how Subaru actually still make stuff serviceable and nun of the other brands do haha
They sell gear oil in a "bag" now, works surprisingly well to fill a differential without the need for hoses or a pump.
That oil was BLACK.
How long since drain/fill
Now off to the shop for some rust protection..
