[[[ CVT Relearn Tool: https://amzn.to/4kiCjz0 ]]]
I perform CVT relearn for the first time with XTOOL after DIY replacing the CVT valve body’s TCC solenoid and drain/fill HT-CVT fluid on my 14FXT with 197,310 miles. Performed June 2025. I am still original owner since 2013.
For context: 14FXT was not smoothly engaging when accelerating or decelerating at low speeds, felt like hard “gear shifts” and eventually threw codes P2762 and P0700. This same issue occurred years ago at 88k miles, but it was a free powertrain warranty repair by Subaru.
NOTE: I did drive the car after the DIY repair WITHOUT performing the relearn for about 10 miles, and it may have been fine to continue without ever doing the relearn, however she just didn’t feel smooth. Hard to describe, but throttle/gas pedal control felt a little off and different. So I decided to buy this tool and perform the relearn after the 10 mile test drive ….and it made a VERY noticeable difference in driveability. 100% recommend doing a CVT relearn after any extensive CVT valve body work, especially since the tool is very affordable and does not require monthly/yearly subscriptions bullgarbage.
It worked for my 2014, so it should work for 2015+ Forester XT owners as well as 2.5i owners. As you can see in the video, the software looks like it supports almost every late model Subaru from 1998.
