Great video. I thought I can't just replace these light bulbs with LEDs without adding some kind of delay circuit. Some people said doing so will cause LEDs to blink twice as fast instead of once every second.

Very good "how-to" video. Clear, easy to follow and to the point.
But I'm not sure, even if I thought LEDs look better, if I would want to make the change. I understand that appearance is subjective, but in this case, illuminated rear turn signals are essentially never going to be seen by the owner/driver.
The only guy who would notice my upgraded lights is the guy behind me. Especially the guy who is behind me at a long traffic light, and I'm not so sure he's going to appreciate the LEDs.
The problem is that blinking is irritating to most people. The brighter the light, the worse. The sharper the on/off transitions, the worse.
Check out the turn signal indicators on the dashboard. They brighten as they turn on and fade a little before they turn off to soften the edges. And they aren't overly bright. It would be irritating for a lot of people otherwise.
It's possible that Subaru went with dimmer, softer blinking incandescents to save money (or maybe because they didn't care about the cool factor), but I would guess it was a deliberate design decision. It's hard to explain why only these lights are not LEDs otherwise.
How did you get around hyper flash? Most LED lights need some type of resistor.
I once read that the reason for choosing incandescent bulbs is that the heat helps keep them clear of snow. I'm in Canada so snow is a concern, although realistically, there's more slush and road grime covering the rear lights in our winters than snow. Is this theory far-fetched?

There’s a video on YouTube where LED dome lights caused noise on the CANBUS. Not saying you’re going to have a problem, especially if these are on a relay and not fed power from the computer directly.
It seems so unlikely but I’d hate to see a major drivability problem caused by bulbs!

will the thule racks that you had on your obw fit on this new generation? i have a 24 obw, but will be buying a 26 obw now that they are for sale. i saw your video with the racks ans liked how they fit and ended up buying a set. unfortunately, the next day i saw that a dealership i watch just got in the new wilderness, so now im like…great. lol
Looks more modern with the turn LEDs. I hate when manufacturers are doing this.
