17 Habits to Make Your Subaru Last Over 500k Miles Without Repairs

Want your Subaru to last over half a million miles without expensive repairs?

This video reveals 17 proven Subaru maintenance habits that extend your Subaru reliability, extend car life, engine life, protect your transmission, and car care clues to keep your subbie running forever.

Whether you drive an Outback, Forester, Crosstrek, Ascent, WRX, Impreza, Legacy, or BRZ, you’ll learn exactly what to do, when to do it, and why it matters.

Inside, you’ll discover the real Subaru maintenance schedule that works in the real world: the 6,000‑mile oil and tire rotation rhythm that protects the Subaru BOXER engine, plus how OEM parts and approved fluids save you from premature wear.

We break down Subaru CVT service do’s and don’ts, AWD tire matching and rotation rules, and the differential and transfer case fluid changes most owners skip.

You’ll also learn coolant flush timing to avoid overheating, timing belt vs timing chain reality (and what to replace with the belt), brake fluid flush intervals to keep ABS and stability control sharp, and battery habits that prevent weird electrical issues.

We cover EyeSight camera care, software updates, suspension and steering inspections, engine air and cabin filter intervals, the simple PCV valve that saves oil, the MAF sensor cleaning that restores power, and alignment cadence to stop tire burn.

Plus, we call out early head gasket symptoms on older EJ engines so you can catch problems before they snowball into bigger car repair jobs.

Searches we target include Subaru maintenance schedule, Subaru CVT service, Subaru AWD tire rotation, Subaru differential fluid change, Subaru timing belt interval, Subaru head gasket symptoms, EyeSight calibration, and SUBARU BOXER engine longevity.

If you want practical Subaru maintenance tips that actually move the needle, this is your blueprint to hit 500,000+ miles with confidence.

Watch to the end for a simple tracking cadence you can copy today, then check our next video on AWD tire strategy to protect your driveline.

Lots of stolen images and videos from other content creators here. You need to provide your own images and videos, not steal other peoples work. I'm sure @MrSubaru1387 is impressed with your ability to take his work and put it on your channel.

Just purchased a 2026 Crosstrek sport. My dealer set the maintenance reminder for oil at every 6k and cvt fluid at every 30k. Since I'm still in break-in, I'll change the oil at a little over 1k and then again 3k after that and then from there I'll do every 6k.

Why did you spell Outbacks with an apostrophe?

This video sounds like you don't want a Subaru with all these scary things that could go wrong

I bought my first Subaru a 19 Outback w/20k, 42k later & trying to follow the maintenance schedules an listening to the horrors of ownership makes me a little nervous. Might have made the wrong choice of buying the last car I need. I’m able to do most of the maintenance myself (retired mechanic) as I have a lift available, that certainly keeps the cost affordable but recommended services seem frequent and $$ in comparison to the previously owned cars since 1955.

Well no make last more then 12 years if it sees winter use where I am. Even with washing and spraying the bottom. The ice melt the state uses and my township dirt roads. Just hammers the underside of everything. So the gravel sand blasts the bottom.. then the liquid ice melt the state uses eats it. After 5 winters, the mid pipe is gone on my subaru with 25k on it. Not really a big deal most makes around me have stock metal issues. My work truck the brake lines, fule lines, cooling lines all rotted after 6 winters. Just replace lot of things with SS when they go. I just wish all the non oem subaru ss exhaust kits had a more stock sound. Some are horrible.
