im looking into this for a family member what happens if you just change the battery yourself without programing it ?
If the battery is the same Ah and CCA as the old one, I don't see why it needs to be registered. I hooked up a slave battery to the front jumper terminals, then swapped out the main original 10yr old battery. Replacement was actually a little higher capacity, 95Ah 900CCA vs 92Ah 850CCA. I don't have a scan tool to register but figured I would swap the battery first and get a scan tool if there were any issues, seems to be working fine though.
While I haven't been commenting on your videos lately. I have been following your channel since the GR Hatch days. A few years ago I had Audi replace the battery on my B9 S4 and oh man was it expensive. But yes, I am very curious on that story behind the PDK failure,
as I've been reading this within the boards. Also wondering if this failure carried over to the 95B.2 side of things.
