How bad are the rock chips on your car right now, and what model are you driving?
What is that 911’s exact color please?
Nice video. For the plastic film you could also use a claybar as it will also pull out contaminants.
Yep, the 911 rear quarters go thru war daily!!! This is in my mind is the first and last thing I HATE about my 992.2 !!
PPF saves you until it doesn't! !!
I feel like PPF applied to these areas, should be replaced bi-annually!!
Although heating PPF removes all the smalls with self-healing properties!!
I have used Dr Color Chip for years but this was the best application that I have seen. I am always afraid that I will let the paint dry to long or not long enough. Dr Color Chip makes a wonderful product. Thanks for the tips.
I only would and have done this for minor rock chips and leaving large areas to the pros. But nevertheless looks better but need to be cautious as you can make it worst.
Great advice and content as usual – getting the entire car PPF’d then ceramic coated is my recommendation, ceramic coat your wheels and brake calipers as well. We have the same car and color and that’s how I did mine .. eventually after a lot of chips I’ll just replace the PPF etc
Thank you for helping my mental state!
It really hurts me when I see road rash behind my front wheels on my '22 BMW M5 CS when I clean it. I had my car sent straight from the dealer to my PPF installer before I took it home but, only PPF the front-end and hood. (lesson learned)
I came across your channel because, after 40 years of buying BMWs (16), I maybe changing vehicle brands. Currently, I do not like BMW's new design direction and looking at a Porsche 911 GTS. I love your car's spec, all of my cars were blue (various shades) except, for my current car since, M5 CS only came in 3 colors.
Last, I am truly a steward, I make sure I follow ALL maintenance schedules including fluids changes like oil, tranny and differential.
I hate rock chips. The whole car is ppf’d and it works great!
Less than 1 year and I got front bumper rock chips. Might be a badge of honor…….?
Hi WG, another informative video. It’s almost time for spring washing and riding up through mountains again.
Excellent tutorial! Gonna order my kit!
My992.1 has shark fins on the haunches.
I don’t think it’s offered any longer
Excellent video. You’re already one of my favorite YouTubers.
Another approach:
Wash and 'polish'/coat paint to protect it, and to reactivate pride of ownership.
Notice paint chips. Dab paint chips with color match paint to prevent rust.
Get in now cool clean car. Notice, paint chips are now invisible. Amazing..!
For that perfect finish, fill tank with V-Power or an equivalent that is a 98 RON, high bond/energy-density, premium additive pack, fuel, that includes an upper cylinder lubricant. (No Shell does not pay me).
Go to favourite wiggly, undulating, twisting, complex road.
Approach fast tight bend.
Notice, paint chip no longer occupy your universe. Amazing huh..!
I haven't tried it yet, but looks like it's worth a shot. My Cayman is black and I'm thinking it will blend in well. Thanks for the demo and the tip on this product.
Thanks for the tips! The chips always show up where the PPF stops.
