DIY Singer Porsche | Upgrading the Steering on my 1977 Porsche 911

Had to rebuild the steering rack while I was upgrading the suspension – it sounded a lot harder than it really was. A few bearings and a lot of grease later..everything is back to how it should be. #vintageporsche #porsche911 #classiccarrevival #classicporsche #singerporsche

I'm no expert…a good trick is probably to put the pinion in the freezer overnight, then grease it, and then use the press (on a slightly warmed) bearing. This should avoid possible damage to the bearing and the pinion faces, make it easier to do…

How do I know this gem…well I've see the results of when a professional garage has not done this…

First off thanks for getting back to me about the lettering and questions I had from your previous video…and as I sit here in the garage looking at a spare steering rack for my 86' 911 this popped up. Rebuilding also…
Apples to oranges, a bit, in regards to our steering rack rebuilds but wanted you to know as the owner of a couple mid 80's Porsches, really enjoy your videos so far.
Fan of all 911/912s and always feel you can learn a bit watching different owners of different years no matter what you own…not to mention the confidence gained by seeing what others can do. Nicely done.
