G Force Crossmember Review and Install, Pontiac Re-Build part 13

G Force Crossmember Review and Install, Pontiac Re-Build part 13

New Cross Member from GForce! I’ve been dying to do this upgrade because my Tremec TKX was sitting too dang low, as compared to my Muncie. We’re on the tail end of my engine rebuild, and I need to fix the exhaust height by raising the transmision before re-installing it. If you missed it, check out the engine tear down episode… the bearings were toast! In this episode, “G Force Crossmember Review and Install, Pontiac Re-Build part 13”, we just installed the low profile band clamps from Ultimate Headers, and now have room to raise the Tremec TKX! Does the crossmember allow you to use the emergency brake cables

@johna7184 says:

Does the TKX install change the pinion angle? I currently have my Jerico shimmed to my liking with factory cross member and stock height mount. American Powertrain TKO install kit comes with a shorter mount for some reason.

@cfmechanic says:

From my research g force is only manufacture that makes shims for trans mount, this leads me to believe their mounting point is lower and need shims to correct driveline angle. I commented before watching entire video. Seems like your video confirms my suspicions

@harryking8498 says:

Greetings, love your videos. 67, also TKX. Looking into the crossmember, but not sure it will solve what I am trying to do. Trying to put my X-pipe ahead of the driveshaft, so right under the tailhousing, and behind the crossmember mount. I am trying to do this to get the exhaust higher. Stock mount, modified. Did you happen to do a video on your exhaust system to show where your X-pipe is located? Appears to be under the driveshaft. FWIW, my first attempt at this, I had 4" long flex pipes running under the crossmember, then 45's to the X-pipe (I fab'd). Putting the 45's right at teh collector puts them into the crossmember. Does not appear that the G-Force will be any wider there to allow this. So I may be stuck either making my own crossmember, or having the X-pipe further back. Just wanting to see how you handled the X-pipe.

@markjackson6829 says:

Very cool! I haven't seen you mention, measuring and adjusting your pinion angle to your changing transmission angle. That protects you u-joints from improper loading and heat, shortening their life and load bearing capacity. I don't know if you already have, but you need adjustable rear upper control arms and an angle level?

@frekkledipped says:

My transmission mount has no holes either side, frame does, cross member doesnt. Weird.

@frekkledipped says:

You should look at these vids and read the comments from peeps in the biz. Would change your mind. Thats exactly what theyre saying. Its UTG . One guy states he had so many bad ones he called the manu. and they sent him 3 sets said take the one you want. He tested all 3 sets and one was ok. I tested mine this weekend they all were fine, Crower.

@frekkledipped says:

Sorry to bother you but after watching this 3 times I think Im going to order one. Just bought a new trans mount from Ames. So your original problem was a bad lifter. have you seen the vids on flat tappet Hyd lifters, and how they are failing? They state that we're being sold new ones that are actually remanufactured. I went to my machinist this morning and got my lifters and are going to test them see if they fail. Mine are Crower.

Need advice on a cross member for Pontiac 400 transmission in a 1952 Pontiac Chieftain

@johnmilnerQQ says:

Ya, that many shims you had did look kind of unsafe.

@kuijin says:

Underrated channel. Great information for all viewers regardless of ability level. I'm knee deep in my ranch field stored '67 restoration (barn find would have been an upgrade).

@andrer3854 says:

I like but will be boxing frame and may require different part number

Great videos. I have enjoyed watching your build. Keep up the good work.
