If you see the “Gearbox Fault Repair Needed” warning in Peugeot or Citroen vehicle, this doesn’t necessarily mean that your transmission is dead and needs repair. Very often, the problem is just because of the shifter issues. Like the shifter position sensor or wiring problems.
Also, before you pay for any inspection, check the fluid level in the transmission. It may be low and you may just need to add one liter. Unfortunately, Peugeot transmissions are known for software problems. But fortunately, they are much cheaper to repair than any hardware issues. Finally, you should check the 12V battery.

hello. Citroen C5 2011, 112 HP, robotized gearbox. I get intermittent “Gearbox fault: repair needed”. Sometimes the car goes into N and stops shifting. In some cases it also refuses to start. The issue usually appears after long drives when the engine is hot, then disappears after restarting or waiting a few minutes.When I went to a mechanic, he connected a diagnostic tester to the gearbox and said there were no faults. At that time, he also topped up brake fluid. After that, the car worked normally for about 3 months, then the problem came back again.The car has an EFB battery installed (around 2022 or possibly earlier), while the vehicle documentation specifies AGM.
I just bought a Citroen C3 1.4 hdi diesel Automatic with (80.000km) and as im leaving the owners house I start getting SERV light and faulty gearbox info. I don't know what to do. I tried going to various mechanics but they say they dont work with automatic gearbox in my city. I bought the car from a very old guy (90 yrs old) and I know the car was not used daily and was not being used for a long time. So the car is "new".
Can it be the battery being too old and maybe finished? Is it normal in this case?

I have a Citroen C5 x7 2016 1.6 e-HDi.
I got a Gearbox Fault-repair needed error and sometimes the car will just be jerking when I accelerate. This usually happens 2nd or third gear but also in high gears.
My mechanic said I can keep on driving but I wanna fix this so I'm sure that my car won't let me down if I make a long road.
Any idea why this is happening?

My 208 yesterday displayed that gearbox fault and it kept going to economy mode it would keep in neutral and if you tried to start it. Would refuse kindly help coz my mechanics cant figure it out

My Peugeot 307 2008 model can be driven in semi auto mode in 3rd and 4th gear but has no 1st and 2nd gears and no gears in auto mode. I had a diagnostic scan done and P0721 came up which is related to the Output Speed Shaft Sensor. Would this need to be replaced to fix it?

Hello !I stopped on an uphill road, then pressed the gas. The car moved a little, made a noise like gears grinding with very high revs, and after that it wouldn’t move anymore. The gears change on the screen (R, N, A), but when I press the gas it feels like it’s always in neutral.
