Hi I have one doubt about cvt transmission Is the mitsubishi lancer 2008 cvt compatible with the nissan cvt cause the both made by jatco i'ts just a question that pass on my mind?

@kennethbecker2206 says:

If i have a nissan cvt with 140000 miles on it that hasn’t had the cvt fluid changed, is it worth changing or should i just ride it till it dies? The car was cheaper than a new transmission

@aligeoff.27 says:

From an engineering point of view, an all steel CVT is a seriously flawed concept. It relies of there being sufficient friction between the belt and pulley to transmit the power but not so much as to create heat and wear. Engineers normally use oil to reduce friction to a minimum so in a CVT achieving the required static friction is a delicate balancing act which relies on precise thrust pressures and very specific oil specifications. Any drive relying on metal to metal friction will inevitably have a shorter life than the rolling action in a set of epicyclic gears. If you scrap an otherwise good car early because the cost of replacing a CVT makes it uneconomical to repair, how it this eco-friendly? CVTs may be smaller, lighter and cheaper to make, and give small fuel economies, great for the manufacturer, but I cannot see that they are cheaper in terms of vehicle lifetime costs.

My Dad 2007 Nissan Bluebird sylphy still has its original engine and transmission here in 2025 .. engine oil people with genuine Nissan CVT fluid of the correct range and in a timely manner

@martinnali8104 says:

This is not overhaul, this was just disassembly. No parts were repaired or exchanged. We don’t know if this was thrown into the garbage bin.
