I believe another problem you're having with your car battery is those batteries 18 amps is not enough, it's basically a motorcycle battery. the engine management system drains that battery sitting idle on its own in a few days, even a Toyota Celica recommends 100 to 200 CCA (cold cranking amps) or above. Last time I looked a lotus elise required 540 CCA.
