Lexus UX (2019-2025): Rear Brake Service Mode. EPB Actuator Release. No TechStream!

Lexus UX (2019-2025): Rear Brake Service Mode. EPB Actuator Release. No TechStream!

In this video, we will demonstrate how to enable the dedicated Service Mode for rear brake replacement or service on 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 Lexus UX models (200, 250h, 260h, 300h, 300e).
Using the Service Mode will allow you to fully release the electric parking brake without any additional tools or software.

Lexus UX250H Rear Brake Pads Part Number: 0446633230.
Lexus UX250H Rear Rotors Part Number: 4243178010.

1. REAR BRAKE PADS – BOSCH BE1879H Blue Ceramic Disc Brake Pad Set w/Hardware – Compatible with Select Lexus ES250, ES350, RX350, RX450h, UX200, UX250h; REAR – https://amzn.to/42F9TJ0.
2. REAR BRAKE ROTORS (DISCS) – Brembo 08.D418.11 UV Coated solid Brake Rotor LEXUS/TOYOTA/TOYOTA (FAW)/TOYOTA (GAC) OE# 4243178010 – https://amzn.to/4jaFSYz.

00:00 ENABLING THE SERVICE MODE:
1. Turn the key to the Ignition ON position. Press the Push Start Button twice.
2. Press the brake pedal.
3. Push the electronic parking brake button 3 times.
4. Pull the electronic parking brake button 3 times.
5. Release the brake pedal. The Park indicator on the dash should be flashing.
6. Pull and hold the electronic parking brake button. You will hear the motors located on the rear calipers of the Lexus UX unwinding all the way.

Now the parking brake is fully released, and you can service your rear brakes. You will be able to push in the piston all the way without the electric parking brake holding it. This will allow you to replace brake pads or do any other service on the brakes.

02:09 DISABLING THE SERVICE MODE (Before disabling the service mode, make sure that the rear calipers are fully reinstalled; otherwise, your piston may fall out!):
1. Push and hold the electronic parking brake button. This will return the electric motor to the proper position. Wait until you stop hearing the parking brake motor noise in the back.
2. Push the electronic parking brake button once to engage the parking brake. You are done.

The difference between using the Service Mode and simply pulling the parking brake button once to disengage the parking brake is the fact that in the Service Mode, it gets released completely, allowing you to fully unwind the motor.

This video was helpful for the NX300 2020. The only difference was I had to do the opposite of the direction he gave for the emergency brake scenario. (Ex pull up was really push down and push down was pull up). Even for the part to release the piston and put it back into position while holding down. Other then that I still had to use a c clamp or compression caliper tool to push it in the rest of the way so the new brakes would fit. Thanks OP

We did not realize we needed to do this before replacing the rear brakes on my car. We unplugged the electronic power brake cable following some tips we found online. Put everything back together, bled the brakes and everything works great except we now get an error and no loner have cruise control. Do you have a fix for this? Appreciate you

Awesome video!

I assume the vehicle your demonstrating is a Hybrid? If so, would the steps be the same for gasoline engine model?
