Fixing my TORN UP SEATS for less than $200 – Lexus GX470 Seat Cover Install | Cup Holder Upgrade

In this video, I show you how I refreshed my front seats using some Coverado seat covers. I never much cared how the seats looked, and they are comfortable enough. I just don’t want the rip to get any worse, and I don’t want the foam getting wet from rain and become moldy, etc. So I got some seat covers to prolong the service of these tired old seats.

So this is what’s going on. I was moving a box that was thin but kinda long and when I put it in the trunk I had to put one side of it on on the headrest and one of the plastic that holds the headrest metal bars broke.

I spoke to a tech and he said the back panel needs to come off and then replace the piece which is $9. However Lexus will charge me something like $300 to that.

I want to know if anyone has removed that plastic panel which is in the back of the rear seat(2nd row).

Thanks

did your armrests lock into place. i did everything the way you did but my armrest no longer locks. it just slides down with any pressure. any help?

@DevonZurcher says:

Can anyone PLEASE tell me what size socket I need to get the arm rest off and back on?

@rendroidz4680 says:

How's the seat cover holding up?

@parkerjaynes5227 says:

This is great I already bought these exact covers for my gx470. I love when there is a perfect video

@vettuv809 says:

Can you post what the item number(model #) you used for your GX470. Coverland website is backed ordered. Hopefully I can score a set on eBay or Amazon. You did a great job – looks solid! Thanks.

How is heat working after cover

@jeffcarello7446 says:

I need the exact same color you installed on your GX, but it looks like the tan colored Coverado seat covers aren’t available on the link you provided. Do you have another link or source for these covers?

@deldeek says:

i bought the full set front and back for my 2014 Gx460, they looked amazing , sadly the fitting was horrible , for the front seat there was no clean way to tie them down or feed the straps through where the bottom and the back meet, really wanted to love them ended up returning them

@mauriceriley8264 says:

Even a year later still was able to use the discount. Thanks for your discount. Great video as well!

@angellmarrero8326 says:

Yep, just got a GX470 and this is what I will be doing next, I just got 17×9 -12 rims and some beefy tires. Its gonna look sick

@baomichael says:

This is the best

@e60power1 says:

Thank you. I've been looking for seat covers for my GX. your code save me 15$.

@Kdawg101 says:

How does airbag situation play into this?

@jub164 says:

To anyone considering buying these at present: they have changed the design. For the worse in my opinion. The sides of the seat backs are split (elastic bands pull them together) and there are fewer anchor points at the base of the back (1 versus 3). And, it looks like the sides of the seat bottoms are smaller/shorter; I can not achieve the full coverage depicted in this video.
Sadly, the full coverage back was a major selling point as far as I’m concerned so…I guess I’ll use them till the elastic gives out

@chrissantos4326 says:

Which model is this? Looks like alpt are out of stock on website?

@jimzimmerman5852 says:

How do you like the seats so far? I’d be interested to see how you like the back seats.

@fudhater8592 says:

Seems kind of pointless if there isn't also an armest cover

@stephanefosso6203 says:

Hello ! Did you also install the cover on the rear seats?

@frankfeng6199 says:

does the heated seat functionality still work through these?

@TonyAlvestad says:

I definitely lol'd at the knife. Holy crap hahaha

@davidwayne9982 says:

There are leather REPAIR kits that work GREAT– wiht a little practice– go fix some old leather seats in junker vehicles first for practice then do yours and they'll look great.. the ktis are not too expensive either.. and it's EASY..

@swaroopagoturkar1320 says:

Having a hard time getting seat bottom tabs tucked under the plastic trim. Any tips?

@danp3677 says:

Now that's a knife!

@Closer69 says:

They look padded, do they offer any additional comfort? I wonder if the heated seats can still be felt through the material or not? They look great!
