In this video I’m working on a customer’s 2019 Kia Optima that came in needing a complete 4-wheel brake job and a new battery. Nothing too exotic here, just some good old-fashioned maintenance and a little classic South Main Auto brake job action. Sometimes it’s nice to take a break from network faults, intermittent gremlins, and modules.

Rocko, I've watched a lot of brake job videos from different people and, you, by far do the best and correct way. Salt belt or west coast. I've never had a problem using your methods.

Why the Name "Lug Nut"?
Origin of the Term
Lug: The term "lug" refers to a projecting part or a handle, which in this context relates to the part of the wheel that the nut secures.
Nut: This refers to the fastener itself, which is typically a hexagonal shape that can be tightened onto a threaded wheel stud.
Functionality
I dont get why Americans call them "lug nuts", when they hold the wheel on. Thats why here in Australia we call them "wheel nuts". Because technically thats they are doing, holding the wheel on.
In English, the word lug is most commonly used as a verb meaning to carry or drag something heavy and awkward with significant physical effort. As a noun, it can refer to an ear-like handle on an object, a mechanical part, or British slang for an ear. [1, 2]
