My dad ,a master mechanic, did that to every vehicle he drove. Used a toggle switch and button. Key on, toggle on bump the button(old crome ones used in older tractor-trailers.) My brother had an old Ford ranger, that would cut off every few minutes. So, everywhere he drove, he just turn the ignition on and off when it started to cut out. We drove from gainsville florida all the way to Crosby Texas in that thing when our grandma passed in 2012.
I always sell my vehicle with a wiring diagram and label the wires with a laminated card beforehand. I’m no master sparky but one of my friends is and taught me how to wire two different ways. One way is having all the wires hidden and looking line manufacture did it. The second way is to wire professionally but do it where it’s accessible and easy to understand. I chose to do it that way on most projects. I’ll make little boxes out of sheet metal to hold a diagram near the area etc. i mainly do obs trucks and Subaru lights etc. I even leave my email address in the box just in case. I’m about our community so the little extra time is worth it.
