How can you torque the cam sprocket without the special tool without spending the engine out dtc

@greggarnold9427 says:

Remember….. the camshafts are hollow. Don't do like I did and over-compress the vise grips.

Hello,

I hope you’re doing well.

I have a 2012 Jeep Liberty with a 3.7L V6 gasoline engine, and I’m having an issue with the oil pump.

I came across your video and noticed your expertise, so I wanted to ask for your advice.

Is it possible to replace the oil pump without removing the upper timing chain?

If it is possible, I would be extremely grateful if you could explain the procedure or share any tips or guidance on the replacement process.

Thank you very much for your time and help.

Crazy thing I did one, you forgot to tell the duers to apply tention to tensioner after you pull grenade pins out to hold the tention on the chains. Crazy fkn thing after you rotate the engine 2 times the marks move but all dots & cams are aligned these fkn Chrysler are fkn Crazy Work

Hello, I have a 2004 Jeep Cherokee 3.7 V6 and I’m writing from Turkey.

I have a problem related to engine lubrication. I recently had the engine rebuilt and almost all parts were replaced with new ones. However, I think the mechanic may have done something wrong because the oil pressure/lubrication seems weak and the engine bearings are getting damaged.

What could cause this problem?

@Clint-wz8mv says:

I noticed when you torqued the left drivers side cam sprocket, you didn't secure cam so you stretched your chain.

Balance shaft maybe what u refering to

@rodjoe1425 says:

I did mine recently. I installed the lower chain and tension guides before aligning the marked links on the chains with the marked cam sprockets and didn’t torque until everything else was installed. Tensioners and guides – 21 lbs ft
(If there’s fasteners with a torx head closest to cams, those would be 13 lbs ft)
Idler sprocket bolt is 25 lbs ft
Target wheel and cam sprocket is 90 lbs ft.
Always make sure your crank is still lined up to TDC.
I applied Loctite blue 242 to all tension and guide bolts, coat the idler sprocket bolt with engine oil before install, oiled the chains and applied some engine assembly lube on the harmonic balance shaft and cam lobes. Made a smooth start.

Thanks for the vid!!
Course before tearing down you made sure ish you where at top DC. On chain re install. Poor man's thought. Could you while old cam gear on use channel lock plyers to grab gear to move that little bit to align then install new gear?

@darenpearce7773 says:

Loosen the cam journals
Instead of taking the sprocket off.
Top sprocket is a balancing shaft.
