Just replaced mine with new rod bearings and sealed power pistons and it runs so much better and quieter! Love it!!

I need a Tran for a 99 4×4 aw4 xj

@MrDanielrbales says:

I'm going to order a set of pistons and do this. 2000 WJ and my daily has a 4.7 with a rod knock that I can't afford to fix.

@cjnoldner8526 says:

You could just film in your shop and not use your lift just saying I did like hearing the birds though.

@FistofJello says:

I found another one of your videos about a week after a piston my 98 fell apart. I wish I knew. I’ve been following you ever since.

I need a head 🙁 for a 00 xj

@noberet says:

Ah, my 1996 XJ with 384,000 miles makes a completely different, quieter ticking noise that goes away pretty quick. Whew!

@tnnaas says:

59:40 Not sure if it's 100% accurate, but it seems those nuts are Mopar J4006385, which are – from what I'm able to find – are a 11/32"-24 nut.

ARP sells them in packs of 1, 2, and 10 as either hex or 12-point nuts.

The hex nuts are 200-8603 for a single, 200-8623 for two, and 200-8633 for ten.

The 12-points are 300-8373 for a single, 300-8383 for two, and 300-8393 for ten.

Hope this helps.

Put some rubber hose over the rod bolts keeps from nicking the crankshaft.

@seugeniogonzaleze9296 says:

Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience man, that's very generous of you
My ZJ does not have that kind of slapping sounds, rather a diesel-engine kind of rattle, I think it could be the timing chain. Are you planning on doing a driveway mechanic video on that too?

@patchone9558 says:

Pistons could be made by different Manufactures some may be better quality.

@EPYCMX says:

Just rebuilt my 1995 4.0 engine, and it has developed exactly this kind of slap 2 weeks after on cylinders 3 and 4, workshop took it back and repaired, new pistons, etc… on e again 3 weeks later, the same… is it bad quality parts? Bad assembly? Or what?

Sadly I'm not in the US so I cannot order from you since import cost would be crazy high… But please help me solve it…

@Wiz-kidddd says:

Would pay good money to have this guy rebuild my engine..maybe next year

@mistererwin1167 says:

Hey Dex, any salvaging the block if your 4.0l overheated and pistons deposited aluminum on cylinder walls? I have the head tore off and am wondering if i need a new block or can use it still.

@trenthatcher4051 says:

Shooot I been waiting for this love the humble back to barebones approach to fixing these issues. but why not just do it in your shop without the lift?

@bransoncarlton4939 says:

What about the older guys? 90-94?

@michaelosterweis says:

I have an 01 xj a 2 dr sport the 4.0 slaps ever start up then go quite , so it's the piston thanks tearing it apart see wants it is .

@TheGrizz25 says:

I have this issue at 320k miles. Trying to decide if I should replace the pistons or just build a full new block

@clayperry600 says:

Perfect time long for this to come out planning in doing this soon I will probably pull the entire axle out though so I have a bit more room
