Bypassing the low pressure control doesn’t necessarily starve the compressor of oil (the lack of oil is caused by the lack of velocity bringing back oil on the suction side of the system) , it causes the compressor to run in a vacuum in the event of a leak, which is more detrimental than lack of oil, the suction cools the heads of compressor.
