#JaguarXK8, #XK8, #JaguarXKR,
I just did this fix today – the video was very useful in describing the procedure. On the 2011 I was working on there are FIVE screws retaining the 'box. One under the side/door panel, two in the upper part of the box and two (as mentioned below) at the bottom near the door and the transmission tunnel. I also found (to my cost) that the plastic is VERY brittle. Both the lower screw mountings broke and so did one of the top (internal) ones. Fixed with glue-gun but annoying all the same. The carpet clips under the 'box are also a pain in the a**e to refit. I ended up having to drill a hole and fit a bolt/washer/nut combination – all worked fine and the 'box is now silky smoothy: the wife will be pleased. Took me a couple of hours but a lot of this was repairing the broken clips…
There are actually six (6) bolts on an XK 5.0 2013. Three T25 and three T27. There are two (2) bolts in the glovebox compartment itself, one (1) under the side compartment plastic exposed obviously when removed, and one (1) directlly under that on the bottom of the whole unit, to the left on a right hand drive car. The other two (2) directly under the lock, at the bottom of the unit, to the left of the trasmission tunnel. Then the three plastic clips did not need to be dealt with as mentioned in the video on mine. Although when I did start to look at them, they are 'flaps' and were moved/tilted/raised with my thumbnail. Ultimately not in the way of glovebox removal. There was a carpeted/soundproofing affair that came off with it though!? This video was utterly brilliant and incredibly useful. Took longer than 20 minutes as I was patience personified and played popmaster during the removal and installation, highest score from both was 27! THANK YOU!
Thank you ! 🙂
There’s 2 more screws under the box each side so 5 in Total
