The negative terminal should always be removed first, and replaced last! In my Jaguar XK if I close the boot with the key inside, the boot will not lock. Also it is useful to know the code for your touchscreen stuff!
I think it is always better to remove the NEGATIVE lead first. In addition if you just disconnect the battery you may well loose all the ECU codes for the Throttle Body , Windows etc etc and have problems. Better ides is to connect a back-up battery to the terminals before you remove the battery leads, this way the XK remains powered up and maintains its settings. Just trying to help with ideas :-o)
