Weird I unplugged the fuel pump fuse and the vehicle still starts and stays running.

Been hammering at this stupid metal ring for literally an hour… I bench 275, hard as I can. It literally hasn't moved 1 cm. Yes, im going thr right way. Whoever designed this dreadful locking mechanism, I hope your pillow is uncomfortably scorching hot for eternity
If you take a adjustable wrench to the sheet metal on the back edge of the trunk you can make 1/4 to 1/2 inch of clearance to make the job much easier. Then when your done just bend it back. I dont know why they made the home offset ? It doesn't help at all!
