One thing… You forgot to mention that almost ALL GM TRUCKS (92 to 99) have the connectors silicone glued to the PRNDL switch at the factory. It is nearly impossible to unplug those connectors without breaking the switch. Your truck obviously has had the PRNDL switch replaced previously, because the cable connectors were not glued in place. So the real replacement process needs to tell the end user that they can try to remove the cables, but the switch will break just behind the connector socket on the PRNDL switch.
